FTEC Saturday Evening [10/7]

After spending some time up at the school with Phale and the kids in detention, Wilson had headed home for a nap. Rolling out of bed an hour before his shift, he showered and ate a light lunch to hold him over till Phale brought dinner down later in the evening, then packed up his briefcase and headed down to the clinic.

It felt a little strange having to actually walk to the clinic instead of just stumbling down the stairs or stepping out into a hallway but, change was the nature of things.

Waving a one handed hello to the nurse as he settled in behind the counter, Wilson introduced himself and got a quick tour from her to show him where things were, new equipment, quirks of old equipment and what changes had been made. After that, he went back up to the front desk.

A pot of coffee was put on to brew, music was turned on to a jazzy insturmental station and Wilson settled in to the seat with a medical journal and a note pad.

Around 9:00, Aziraphale wandered into the clinic to poke Wilson bring Wilson his dinner. Detention had been interesting, but mostly successful he thought, and he was looking forward to a nice quiet evening. Hopefully the clinic wouldn't be stormed by injured students on Wilson's very first night.

"Good evening, James love," he said cheerily, setting a sack full of styrofoam containers on the counter. "I went by that Chinese place, since if I'd actually cooked dinner you'd be getting eggs and toast and a cake."

"Of course I did," Aziraphale replied with a laugh, although a little frown line appeared on his forehead as he watched Wilson rub his hand.

"Shall I fetch your computer?" he asked, as he bgan to unpack the food, handing the young doctor a thermos of green tea for him to pour.

Aziraphale didn't argue, Wilson did seem to look more at home with the pad of paper on his desk. He finished unpacking their food and pulled a chair up to the desk so he could sit down.

"I think it went rather well. Unfortunately unless they ping in late I had a few no-shows, so they'll have to serve next weekend with Mr Vader. And I think...I hope Belthazor got the chance to work out a little aggression."

Not sure that he wanted to just let that faraway look go, Aziraphale for the moment pushed it to the back of his mind, but determined that he was going to find out what was going on. Wilson's question handily distracted him though, and he raised an eyebrow.

"Did you really? And is he as horrifying as some of the students would have us believe? I really do need to get out and meet more of the other teachers."

"That's a shame. About the coffee, I mean. I wonder if they make coffee-scented air fresheners. Although I think that's the sort of thing I best not mention in front of Blair, or Mr Vader will have his office filled with coffee scent whether he likes it or not."

Aziraphale nodded at the remark about the man being different in class. "I suspect that has a lot to do with it. That he's just an imposing sort of figure with a short temper. Students tend to exaggerate their feelings about a teacher when that teacher is doing something they don't like."

Maybe there was just a little bit of personal feeling in that statement.

Aziraphale gave a little shrug. "I hadn't expected it to be so difficult to keep 'teacher' and 'friend' separate. And...this hasn't been a very good week for my classes, I'm afraid. Belthazor and Joxer fighting on Monday, and then in lab yesterday Miss Santos had a terrible dream. And poor Miss Belacqua woke up crying. Even Blair's dream was frightening. He made me take his cast off so he could make certain...whatever had happened to his arm in his dream wasn't real."

The angel knew Wilson was having troubles with his own classes, and felt bad about piling more troubles on him. "Perhaps it really is just...a bad week. Emotions running high because of the anticipation over Homecoming and such."

Sometime during the night a large black dog came bounding into the clinic.

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Goodness, is that Sean?" Aziraphale laughed, smiling brightly at the dog. Wilson had mentioned that Angel still had him, and that really meant a great deal to Aziraphale.

Hunting around in the leftovers, he put together a little plate of food. Nothing spicy, of course.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Sean happily took the food and licked the hand of any who offered one.

Angel came in behind him. "Yep, that's him. Told you he was big now."

[ooc: yep, order works for me!]

Aziraphale offered some head scritching as well, and fetched a bowl of water to go along with Sean's dinner. Returning, he leaned against the desk and waved Angel toward the chair.

"Good evening, my dear. Did you enjoy the Homecoming dance?"

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Angel took a seat. "I did, thanks. Very little dancing on my part. Just the way I like it."

Sean gave Phale a lick to say thank you, then tucked in to his dinner.

Aziraphale didn't mind the dog kisses, and he was happy to provide more petting whenever Sean was finished with his food. He did have to chuckle at Angel's reluctance to dance though.

"I expect it was a difficult job to avoid the dancing altogether," he agreed. "But it must have been nice to see all the familiar faces."

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-10-07 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just a little slow dancing," Angel said. "That I can cope with. And yeah. It is. I didn't realize how much I missed everyone until I saw them again."

Not being aware that there was an Angel-Blair issue beyond what had happened during the whole resouling event of last fall, Aziraphale gave Wilson a puzzled look.

"I don't think I had realized that myself," he said to Angel. "Our returning here was unexpected, but turned out to be a blessing."
