Janet had a sinus infection and was a little woozy from the decongestant she was on. Which meant she would probably be a little loopy if the clinic had patients tonight.

OOC: Why, yes, the state of the character does reflect the player's mental state, and for precisely the same reason. Just FYI.

Elizabeth wasn't in as a patient fortunately.

"Hey, honey," she said softly, pushing open the doors. "How you doing?"

Janet smiled brightly. "I'm overmedicated," she said. "Pseudoephedrine. On my weight. My heart rate is a little elevated."

The cup of coffee by her right hand? Probably wasn't helping either.

Elizabeth might have eyed the coffee suspiciously, and glanced down at the travel mug in her hand. "See, that's not so good," she said. "I'm supposed to be the one to get your heart rate elevated."

"Oh, you do that," said Janet, propping her elbow on the desk and leaning her chin on her palm. She nodded seriously, which looked a little odd with her chin on her hand. "It's just I'm a little excitable right now."

"You, are, huh?" asked Elizabeth, smiling. "That can't be good if you're in charge of the clinic."

"I'm not in charge of the clinic," said Janet, pouting a little. "Isn't that a shame? I'm only here for the night. Tommy's in charge."

Elizabeth smiled, reaching forward to tuck an errant lock of hair back behind Janet's ear. "I'm glad, because if you were in charge here, then that would mean even less time I'd get to spend with you," she said.

"But I can't order the other clinic workers around this way," said Janet, her pout melting away in a smile. "Though spending time with you does make up for that."

"Honey, you'll be able to order plenty of other medical staff around in the future," said Elizabeth, trailing her fingertips down Janet's face.

"I'm looking forward to that," said Janet, beaming. "That feels nice."

"I bet you are," said Elizabeth, smiling. Biting her lip, she leant forward and murmured, "And while you're waiting for that, you can still order me around back home."

"Ooh." Janet's eyes gleamed. "You're fun."

Elizabeth laughed softly. "I'm glad you think so," she said.

"Of course I do," said Janet, giggling. "Why wouldn't I?"

"No reason," said Elizabeth, smiling as she reached out run her fingers through Janet's hair.

"Exactly," said Janet. She leaned to the side, grabbing Liz's hand and lacing their fingers together. "I like living with you. Rooming with you. Either is good."

Elizabeth grinned. "You really are drugged up, aren't you, honey?" she said, squeezing Janet's hand.

"Ooh, yeah," said Janet, nodding. "Told you so. So, what do you want to do when my shift's over?"

"Take you back to our room and get you into bed," said Elizabeth firmly.

Janet grinned. "Bed for fun, or just for sleeping?" she asked.

Elizabeth grinned. "Sweetie, as drugged up as you are, I think sleeping will be the best thing for you," she said.

Janet sighed. "You're no fun," she said. "Besides, I don't know if I'll be able to sleep. I'm a little hyper."

Elizabeth snickered. "Really? I hadn't noticed," she said.

Janet stuck her tongue out at Liz. "Better than me having a sinus headache," she said. "I was miserable all weekend. But modern medicine makes me happy."

Elizabeth smiled. "I know, honey. And when you're miserable, I'm miserable."

Janet frowned. "I didn't want you to be miserable this weekend."

"You were suffering," said Elizabeth. "I don't like it when that happens."

"Well, yeah," said Janet. "Except I don't like you being miserable, because that makes me miserable."

Janet studied Liz for a moment. "Are you making fun of me?"

"Okay," said Janet, smiling again. "It's nice of you to keep me company here."

"I was worried about you," said Elizabeth, smiling slightly. "And I wanted to spend time with you."

"You don't need to worry," said Janet, smiling and leaning toward Elizabeth. "I'm well within the acceptable range for the medication I'm on."

"I'm still going to worry, sweetheart," said Elizabeth softly.

"I know you are," said Janet, blushing faintly. "As long as you know I know what I'm doing, okay?"

"When it comes to medical matters, of course I know that you know what you're doing," said Elizabeth, grinning.

"I figured," said Janet, sighing happily. "I'm really loopy tonight."

"Damn." Janet pouted. "Why do I have to be cute? Can't I be glamorous and drop-dead gorgeous instead?"

Elizabeth smiled, leaning across to kiss Janet's pouting lips. "Trust me, you can be those too," she said. "But right now you're very cute." She bit her lip and trailed her fingers down Janet's arms. "How about doing glamerous and drop-dead gorgeous with me on Friday night?"

"Homecoming?" Janet grinned. "You know I'd love to go to Homecoming with you. I've been going through catalogs for a dress, you know."

"And no one was making you?" asked Elizabeth teasingly.

Janet rolled her eyes, still smiling. "Things are a little different now then they were at prom," she said. "For one thing, we're not, um. Totally in denial any more."

Elizabeth laughed softly. "Thank goodness for that," she murmured, leaning in for another kiss.

"I'm very glad of it," said Janet, reaching for Liz's hand and squeezing it.
