River was curled up on the floor under Berthold's blanket. She couldn't remember encyclopedia volume B. Perhaps that was a sign of sanity, but then again, perhaps not.

Blair peeked around the door and looked down at River on the floor.

"River?"

River looked up, then pulled the blanket over her head again. "Sorry," she said. "Didn't want to hurt you." She felt especially bad about hurting Blair and added to that she had even broken his arm.

Blair stepped into the room and sat down on the floor across from River. "I don't want to talk to a blanket, River. Can I see your face?"

River lifted the blanket and looked up at him. "I feel guilty for hurting people. Especially you."

"I'm sorry I broke your arm," River said, equally simply. She drew a sudden breath. "Thought Pippi was gone, but she wasn't. Can't make mistakes like that. Can't control it."

"Once the fighting starts one fist follows the next. That was what I was made for. Want to be something else." River clutched the blanket.

Despite that he didn't actually know River personally, Aziraphale had finally agree with Wilson that it might be good for him to stop by and see the young woman. So he looked into the clinic on Tuesday, and upon finding out that she was still there, quietly tapped at the open door.

"I beg your pardon, my dear. Would you mind a visitor?"

He had, of course, brought along a thermos of tea and a small bag of cookies, on the off chance that she'd be allowed to have them.

River looked up from under Berthold's blanket. This person had a mind she couldn't hear at all. Peaceful. "You're and angel," she said.

Aziraphale raised his eyebrows and nodded, curious to know how the girl knew.

"Yes, I am. You must be River. I've brought you some tea and biscuits, if you'd like them."

"Hiding your wings are hard," River said. "I like tea. And biscuits."

She hoped some part of her wouldn't want to hit him all of a sudden. But then he might be able to defend himself.

"Yes...it can be difficult sometimes. Makes them a little itchy." Aziraphale gave River a warm smile as he set the cookies next to her bed and poured out the tea for her. "But I have a friend who helps me with them."

"Friends are good," River said. "I beat mine up. Not good. It hurts."

Taking a seat in the totally modded chair by the bed, Aziraphale held out the cup of tea and nodded solemnly.

"I did something to hurt some of my friends once as well. Not physically, but emotionally, and that was just as bad. I didn't want to, but I didn't have any choice. Not that it made the hurt any less, but they understood and forgave me. I think your friends will too. I'll bet some of them already have, haven't they?"

"They forgive," River said nodded. "I don't." She pointed to her head. "They cut inside my head and made me hurt people."

No, he hadn't been there a few seconds ago.

"And you're strange," River said from under the blanket. "Leave me alone."

"I am strange," Schroinger said. "But I think I'll stay. What's it like, then? To hurt people like that. Think you," he said with a smile, "could've killed them?"

"Yes, I could've. Didn't though. Won't." She didn't like this person asking questions like this, and stuck her head out from under the blanket and glared at him.

"I can because they hurt me, changed me. Why should should I do it?" She glared at him.
