FTEC, Friday Night

Nat was on duty and back in the lab again, after spending the day wrestling with her conscience. Because unlike ~~Nick~~ some people she knew, she decided still had one.

Anyone needing medical attention would have either found Nat at the front desk, or, if she weren't there, they'd have had to call out. Despite her mood, she knew better than to take it out on her patients.

Mostly.

Walter came in and held the door open for Pippi. So far, no adventures, just some guitar lessons, light shopping, breakfast, and hanging out.

Pippi came in behind Walter, looking in a considerably better mood then when she left. A little wide eyed perhaps, but better.

Natalie emerged from the lab, stripping off her latex gloves as she did. She looked up. "If it isn't our resident Houdinis," she said with a wry grin. "How are you guys feeling?"

"Much better, thank you." He also looked much better. Magic will do that, apparently.

"Pretty good." Pippi added.

"Any residual effects? Reactions to the medication?" Nat reached and flipped through their charts.

"Nothing unexpected," Walter said, shaking his head.

"I didn't like how the painkillers made me feel." she said putting the unused painkillers on the counter. "But otherwise no problems."

Natalie scribbled a few notes on Pippi's chart, and took the pills off the counter. She gave a grimace as she did so, however. "If the pain comes back, or gets any worse, I want you to come back in." A glance between the two. "And I do mean it."

She closed the charts. "Any other complaints? Questions?"

Pippi gave a glance at Walter.

"... Um."

Walter shook his head. "No." He caught Pippi's glance. "I need to get some air. I'll be out with Old Man."

She arched a brow. "Well, I'm not sure how we're set for assistants, but Demyx is more than welcome to speak to Mr. Gavin, I'm sure..." Nat watched as the two exchanged glances and Walter moved to leave.

Pippi's not excatly sure how to ask this.

"Do you know much about vampires Dr. Lambert?"

If her heart beat like it once did, it might have stopped in just that instant. As it was, Natalie had a very hard time keeping a straight face. Her brows puckered just slightly as she made and instant decision to respond. "I've treated one or two," she replied cautiously.

"Can vampires and people... have... children?"

Folding her arms across her chest, Nat leant back against the desk. "I...know of one case," she replied. "In this particular case, the vampire was very much in love with a mortal. They...joined, and when they did, she became pregnant. She had to be, in order to carry the child.

"The key element in that case was love -- mutual -- between the participants; maybe something to spark the lost mortality in the vampire. Something done in lust, especially blood lust..." She shook her head, a softly impish smile tugging the corners of her mouth. "If that were the case, there would be a lot of half-vampire, half-mortal children."

Pippi seemed relieved to hear that.

"Okay. Thank you very much... I was," she said, "just wondering."

Yeah, right.

"Good evening Dr. Lambert. Sorry to be so much trouble."

Natalie gave a warm smile. "No trouble, Pippi. Come back if you need anything else."

Before heading into the lab, Natalie made a round to check on Joxer. He was still unconscious, which worried her...but it seemed the bruises were healing fairly well.
