FTEC, Wednesday day

Tommy did a quick check on all the patients - that Tyler kid still wasn't looking good, but comparatively speaking he was starting to look better - and then settled down at his desk to do the very important job of reading the sports section.

"Spell?" Tommy rolled his eyes. "Yeah. Right away, kid. See me do that."

"I don't know if you're aware of this, but the girl in exam room one? Is there because of the people in exam rooms three and four," Veronica said. "They were possessed and they beat the shit out of her. That girl is like a sister to me and I'll be damned if her recovery will be impeded because she doesn't feel one hundred percent safe in this clinic!"

"You telling me I can't do my job?" Tommy countered.

"So you're equipped to deal with vampires, possessed girls with super strength, and anything else that might decide to take a second shot at it's victim while they're recovering in your clinic?"

"I find that waving a gun around tends to get the job done," Tommy said, utterly deadpan.

Veronica rolled her eyes. "Guns aren't going to stop most of the things that tend to attack in this town," she said. "It's hard to kill something that's already dead."

"Tell me about it," Tommy said. He waved in the direction of where Lilly's bed had been. "Apparently we try to keep them alive. Unalive. Whatever the fuck."

"So it's really in your best interests to call these women and protect your clinic, don't you think?" Veronica asked. "After all, you wouldn't want to face a lawsuit because some kid got killed on your watch and you couldn't stop it, would you?"

"Kid," Tommy said, "it is in my best interest to make sure everybody in this clinic comes out healthy, whatever definition of healthy applies. That means I'm not spending any money on any frilly fancy-pants, bullshit, crystal-loving, so-called magic, okay?"

"What if I can call in a favor and get it done without any cost to you?" Veronica asked. She really didn't want to have to take that route, but if that's what it took, she would.

"Are they going to be in my way?" Tommy asked.

"No. They'll come in, do what they need to do, and get out. And then if anyone attempts any violent act in the clinic, the spell will be triggered and they will be teleported out."

"If I say yes, will you shut up and leave me alone?"

"Yes."

Tommy sighed. "Fine. But no cost to me and if they get in my way they are out."

"I'll take care of it," Veronica promised.

"And, somehow, I don't think you would mind paying their fee," she muttered under her breath as she turned to leave.
