Christian opened up the clinic and went to check on Lilly. They'd moved her from the exam rooms to a private room when it became apparent she wouldn't be waking up any time soon. Feeling somewhat helpless -- how did one make a dead person wake up, anyway? -- Christian would check on her each shift and make sure she was comfortable. And give her a sponge bath.

Yawning a little and licking her dry lips, Lilly opened her eyes to see Christian giving her a bonus exam checking her vitals.

"Hey," she drawled out in a throaty voice, giving him a lazy smile. "I must be still dreaming."

The sound of her voice startled Christian. "Hey, sweetheart," he said, giving her a smile of his own. "You're awake."

"Apparently," she replied.

Although the disorientation was somewhat trumping her ability to flirt effectively, she still wrinkled her nose and said with some humor, "April Fools."

"You're a little over a month too late for that," Christian said, sitting down on the bed next to Lilly.

Her eyebrows quirked up.

"Exactly how long have I been here?" she asked with incredulity, as she started to pat down her chest and stomach looking for wounds, finding none.

"Almost six weeks," Christian said, patting her hand. "It's May 11th."

"Wow. Note to self - try to dodge some of the bullets next time."

She gave him an honest smile of thanks, and her expression grew a little sad. "I missed graduation, huh?"

Christian nodded. "But you didn't miss much. Except apparently a balloon coming to life and attacking the seniors." He gave Lilly's hand a gentle squeeze. "I can write you a note for your teachers, don't worry about that. And your friends are going to be happy to see you awake again."

"Knowing my luck, the balloon would have shot me, so maybe it's better I wasn't there." She shook her head.

"I'm doomed to be a high school student for the rest of eternity, I swear. What do you think - heaven, hell, or some sort of purgatory?" she asked with a little sigh. "At least the doctors are cute."
