FTEC, Tuesday Night

Nat had slept a little better during the day today and, as a result, felt up to running a few tests in the lab. She bounced happily between the lab and the front desk. On the television, The Thin Man Goes Home was playing and offered amusing background noise.

There was nothing really wrong with Janet. She'd just been so caught up in studying that she felt like dropping by the clinic when she had nothing else to do.

The fact that she'd been wandering around town and was bored out of her skull? Had nothing to do with it, really.

"Were you ever one of those students that hated not having anything to study?" asked Janet, sitting heavily in a chair in front of Natalie's desk. "Finals are over, the library is closed, and I've already finished my newest book. Aside from freaking out the newbies, I have nothing to do."

She glanced quickly--and hopefully unobtrusively--at Natalie's notes, wondering if there was anything interesting to read in them.

"In your day?" asked Janet. She grinned. "I didn't think your day had quite finished." That shorthand looked familiar. With some new notations, maybe? "My uncle doesn't mind, thankfully. Possibly because I have a social life. Or possibly because he's there and I'm here, and so he doesn't notice when I hole up in my room for a week to study."

She bent down and started rummaging in her bag for chocolate.

Janet did her best to look innocent. It probably didn't work. "Being away from home helps you get away with almost anything," she said, losing the innocent look entirely. Thank goodness she'd developed the skill of reading upside down years ago. Now if only she could do it quickly. "I had an internship at a hospital last summer. It was brutal." She grimaced.

"You act like you miss that," said Janet, one eyebrow raised.

"Quiet does mean that nobody's dying," said Janet. "But the total lack of activity for an entire shift does get to you sometimes."

"I've worked my way through the first four seasons of Wormhole X-Treme! by now," said Janet. "Whoever replaced the TV got a good one, I have to say."

"Bad science fiction on that size screen is, um. Something else," said Janet. Snickered. Really bad science fiction.

"Not used to the quiet?" asked Janet curiously.

"You're a doctor. How many dead bodies did you hang out with?" asked Janet, frowning. "Sunday shifts are pretty dead too. Unlike the library. There's almost always someone in the library." Janet nodded. "Caught up in the research, huh?"

"So basically you were the perfect person to treat Angel," said Janet, snickering. "Sounds like an interesting job, though."

"You've got to love a change," said Janet, standing up. "Well, I've got to see if there's anyone else I can pester. And I'm in search of ice cream. See you later."

Janet waved on the way out.

OOC: I figured this had dragged too long and we could get them to meet up again later.
