Exam room 1, one vampire. Exam room 2, evidence of a blood drive. Christian snagged some leftover cookies and juice and settled in his chair, flipping through a report on new innovations in breast implants.

Parker went down to the clinic an hour after she woke up. God, she hated hospitals. But she needed to see how Angel was doing with her own eyes.

Walking into the clinic, she looked around for Janet or someone else in charge.

"Can I help you?" Christian said, checking Parker out.

Gahhhh! The Radio and newspaper hadn't been kidding; this guy was maybe twenty years or so older than Bel, but otherwise, dead ringer. Unnerving. Parker nodded tightly and said, "Dr. Troy? I'm Parker. I'm here to visit Angel, if he's up to it?"

"Popular guy. You're about his eighth visitor today, so take it easy with him," Christian advised. "You can poke your head in and see if he's up, but if he's resting, don't disturb him."

After his efforts last night (http://notstakedyet.livejournal.com/51856.html) Angel was exhausted. He'd wake up for visitors, but chances are people walking in would first notice him sleeping, and looking like he was in a tremendous amount of pain.

Bel peered anxiously into the room. Angel had remained unconscious during Alphonse's still being slow-played mojo last night, but it hadn't killed him, so that was a plus.

Unfortunately, he didn't look in much better condition. In fact, he looked like he was in even more pain. Fuck.

Janet stopped by to check on Angel before she went to set up the blood drive for today. She wasn't comfortable with the amount of blood on hand. More would be preferable.

She stood just inside the doorway, watching Angel sleep. His expression was tight and drawn. She'd seen that expression before in patients. He was dying--sooner, rather than later, if her idea didn't work.

Angel had been waiting for her, so when his senses picked up on her being in the room he woke up. "... morning?"

Before heading off to Empire records and Bidet for his shift, Marty swings by the clinic to check in on Angel and see how he's doing.

Seeing him asleep and not looking too comfortable he decides to leave him alone and turns to leave.

Unfortunately he accidentally kicks a metal trash can, making all sort s of racket.

Angel jerked awake. For a moment he was panicked, thinking maybe it was zombies or snow monsters or muppet televangelists.

Then his eyes focused.

"Oh, 's you."

Callisto stood in the doorway, looking into the room. She was going to go in, really, just as son as her legs started working again.

Xander stood uncomfortably near the door for a second or two, before shaking his head and walking in. " Wow, you look like shit. And amazingly, not intended as an insult for once," he said at a volume that would hopefully wake the vampire up if he didn't just have his eyes closed to avoid the oh-so-cheerful hospital-style decor.

"Feel like shit too," Angel admitted. It was strangely a relief to realize that he felt no need to put up any kind of an act around Xander. "Guess I match."

Logan showed up in the exam room wearing a shirt Angel might recognize. He stopped just inside the door when he saw Angel's condition, not wanting to disturb him. Stuffing his hands in his pockets, Logan stood there and watched Angel for a few minutes.

Angel's eyes had been closed, but he was awake. He looked at Logan as soon as he felt he could give the appearance of looking somewhat normal.

"Hey."

Pause.

"Is that my shirt?"

Rory stopped by mid-morning on her way through town. She swallowed hard upon poking her head into the room and seeing Angel.

"Oh my God," she murmured, half of her hoping he'd stir, and the other half hoping he'd get rest where he could.

After checking in, Parker slowly made her way back to Exam Room 1, hoping everyone had been exaggerating, that it wouldn't be as bad as they said.

It wasn't. It was worse. Wasted-looking, ill, and definitely in pain even while unconscious. Parker watched him sleep, folding her arms hard and keeping her upset off her face, then very quietly dragged a chair over, and sat down next to him.

Darla was so going to pay for this.

After a time Angel opened his eyes. He saw Parker.

"Oh no. Now I know I'm gonna die."

Got that right. You slacker." Parker kept her voice dry and her expression detached, but it took an effort. "I am so killing you after you're over this. I even bought new shoes to do it with."
