(no subject)

He'd checked on Vala, of course, but he hadn't opened the clinic because he just didn't want to deal with it. The on-call light was on, and he was technically available. If needed. He spent the morning lounging on the couch watching mindless television to pass the time. He hadn't decided if he was going to keep the appointment with Susan Dr Pevensie, but he found himself letting Cash out at quarter to two, and five minutes later he was in the clinic.

He sat at his desk and sighed. Maybe he should bring the plant from Blair back to the clinic. It might cheer the place up, once it started to grow. And Blair had said he should talk to it. He had plenty of time to talk to inanimate objects when he was working clinic.

He opened the top drawer of the desk and pulled out a thick manilla envelope. His medicalfile. Copies of doctor's reports, his current perscriptions, the pages of the notebook Wilson logged his progress and reactions in after he gave up the Vicodin. He sighed again and swiveled in his chair to look at Susan's door. He didn't need her to tell him he was a addict, and he didn't appreciate ehr making assumptions as such. He was an addict, and he knew it. And aside from a couple of teeny timy little slips, he'd been off the Vicodin since November 20. And did those slip ups really count, when he'd puked the pills back up each time? Probably.

The doctor is in, but he has an appointment with Dr Pevensie on the books. The question remains if he will honor the appointment or not. If he does, the on-all light will be on, but I wouldn't recommend interrupting. If he doesn't, the on-call light may remain on because he's feeling somewhat anti social and I wouldn't recommend interrupting hisbrooding. Just fair warning, yo.

"Let me open a window, first." She crossed to the one overlooking the courtyard, and cracked it open before returning to her chair, needing the time to collect her thoughts. "Go ahead. If it's too difficult, you can stop at any time."

Pip nodded and pulled a pack of cigarettes. "Thank you," he said, lighting up. "When I was eleven, I was in Isreal. My grandfather was working there. Some of the people who he was fighting took offense and found out that the children of the mercenaries were attending a specific school." Pip took a drag on his cigarette and exhaled some smoke. "But, more importantly, the grandson of their leader was going there. So they stormed the school and captured everyone. To prove that they were serious, they removed my eye," Pip said, tapping his head near his eyepatch, "and sent it to my grandfather. I dont't remember it, honestly. They gave me some sort of drug and I woke up in intense pain and no depth perception. Anyway, with the help of my grandfather's mercenaries, they managed to take back the school. No one was hurt except me, but..." he shook his head. "Came damn close sometimes."

"I understand," Susan said quietly. "Did you receive any counseling at the time? Were those responsible ever caught?"

Pip nodded. "Some. We left not long after I finished healing, but while I was, I talked to several doctors and a counselor. UN person, I think. I can't quite remember. Anyway, I did speak to a counselor, yes. Those responsible? Well, quite a few of them died when the school was taken back. The others were captured. I never did find out what happened to them."

A few more notes, then Susan sighed. "Have you been having these dreams ever since, or just in the last few weeks? And when did they start? Was there anything before them that kicked it off, so to speak?"

"Well, I had similar dreams, like, ones about the event right after it happened. Eventually they went away. Not long after I came here, I started getting them again. I... heard about a friend being attacked by demons. Then there was the incident in Pippi's dream. That's around when they started."

"Incident in Pippi's dream? Could you explain this?" Susan frowned, somewhat confused.

"It's kind of weird. I still don't know exactly what happened. But Pippi got bit by a grindylow in detention. Maia gave her something to put on it and she had an allergic reaction which caused her to fall into a sort of seizure when she was meditating with Blair and Maia. While they were meditating, some sort of witch doctor Pippi had a past with attacked her in like the spirit world. Maia and Blair were sent back. Victor happened to be near there so he came and found me and Walter. I kind of took charge and we carried Blair, who had tried to go see what was going in the spirit world, and Pippi to the clinic. There House looked after her and Blair woke up saying there was danger. Then Professor Dream showed up and told us that Pippi needed help in the spirit realm. They sent Victor, Walter, and me in and we fought these weird sort of... dog things. We won and we all woke up fine. Never did learn the exact specifics, though."

"So. I think I understand this now." Susan made a noted to speak with Professor Dream, although whether he'd feel comfortable discussing the incident was still open to debate. "I may have a few suggestions, but for now? I want you to start to keep a dream diary, Pip. And I have a book on meditative techniques that might let you control the dreams you're having better."

Pip nodded as he stubbed out his cigarette. "Blair knows a lot about meditation, I suppose it might help to talk to him."

"I'd prefer it if you didn't try anything advanced yet," Susan cautioned him. "Just some techniques to slow down your heartrate, and regulate your breathing. If you can get the physical symptoms under control, it might help with the effects. I'm hesitant to prescribe any kind of sleeping pill yet, but if we have no luck, I might do it for a short period, just to give you a rest. But feel free to talk to Blair; just don't attempt anything with him yet, okay?"

She reached out to her bookcase, and took down Beginning Meditation (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1564558673/002-8249283-4998415?v=glance&n=283155) for him, then added a note to her pad. "Chapter three is about senses-guided meditation, focusing on one particular sense, and letting it calm you. If you could do that, at least a three times this week, I'd like to see if there's a change in your dreaming patterns in the diary. Should I make another appointment for you for the same time next week?"

Pip nodded. "That sounds about right. I can call you if anything goes wrong?"

"If it's anything you can't handle, yes. Otherwise, just come into the clinic. If I'm not with a patient, I should have time to listen." Susan smiled. "Do you have any questions for me? Anything you need to know?"

Pip laughed. "Well, I meant if something came up for scheduling, but that's good to know as well. No there's nothing else, thank you doctor."
