(no subject)

He'd checked on Vala, of course, but he hadn't opened the clinic because he just didn't want to deal with it. The on-call light was on, and he was technically available. If needed. He spent the morning lounging on the couch watching mindless television to pass the time. He hadn't decided if he was going to keep the appointment with Susan Dr Pevensie, but he found himself letting Cash out at quarter to two, and five minutes later he was in the clinic.

He sat at his desk and sighed. Maybe he should bring the plant from Blair back to the clinic. It might cheer the place up, once it started to grow. And Blair had said he should talk to it. He had plenty of time to talk to inanimate objects when he was working clinic.

He opened the top drawer of the desk and pulled out a thick manilla envelope. His medicalfile. Copies of doctor's reports, his current perscriptions, the pages of the notebook Wilson logged his progress and reactions in after he gave up the Vicodin. He sighed again and swiveled in his chair to look at Susan's door. He didn't need her to tell him he was a addict, and he didn't appreciate ehr making assumptions as such. He was an addict, and he knew it. And aside from a couple of teeny timy little slips, he'd been off the Vicodin since November 20. And did those slip ups really count, when he'd puked the pills back up each time? Probably.

The doctor is in, but he has an appointment with Dr Pevensie on the books. The question remains if he will honor the appointment or not. If he does, the on-all light will be on, but I wouldn't recommend interrupting. If he doesn't, the on-call light may remain on because he's feeling somewhat anti social and I wouldn't recommend interrupting hisbrooding. Just fair warning, yo.

She grabbed at his hand held it tight, cursing at not being able to hold him better. She still tried to pull him closer.

"I still don't know what I was doing," she admitted. "I should have just run away. I could have...."

"I'm proud of you," Cameron said, because he was. He wrapped an arm around her carefully and kissed her forehead. "It was stupid and dangerous, but I'm proud of you." His cheek was itching, but he wasn't going to let her go in favour of wiping his tears away.

Vala leaned into his embrace as much as she could. "It was stupid," she agreed. I've been hanging out with a certain boyscout too much I think." Her smile was wry. "But, thanks...."

Cameron nodded, not trusting himself to reply. Instead, he brought their joined hands to his mouth and placed a kiss on the inside of her palm.

"Christ," it slipped out and he leaned back in, burying his face in her hair.

Vala just held him there with her good arm. "It just happened so fast, there wasn't really time to think about it... until now." She grimaced and pulled him tighter.

"Were you here all night?... uh, it is morning, right? Wednesday morning?"

It took a moment for the question to register, but he finally nodded and didn't move away. "I suck. I fell asleep," he admitted, feeling guilty about it.

"Well? So did I," she said, taking the chance to kiss him.

A few moments later she pulled away. "Thanks for being here."

"There's nowhere else I'd want to be," he assured her, carresing her cheek. He carefully sat down on the edge of the bed, making sure he wasn't actually touching her. "This alright?"

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, it's fine. Better than fine," she smiled. "I'm just.... I've gotten hurt before, but there's never been anyone who really cared." She cuddled up as much as she was able to, pulling him closer and resting the side of her head on his chest.

He sighed and stroked her hair behind her ear. "I care," he swallowed hard and rested his cheek on top her head. "I don't know what I would have done..." He trailed off, deciding it was better not to think about it.

"I'm just glad you weren't there," she shuddered slightly. "And hey, I'm o.k.," she looked down at herself, "Well I will be. So it's all right, right?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
His fingers still in her hair at the remark. "I should have been there."

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
"No!" Vala insisted, looking up at him to make her point. "You couldn't have done anything we couldn't do, and you might have gotten hurt too. And I don't even want to think about that."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
"You getting hurt isn't any better," Cameron scowled. "I just..." He sighed and kissed her forehead. "I don't want to see a hospital for the next decade."

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
She squeezed his hand. "Well, we'll both have to just not get hurt anymore then, o.k.?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I can live with that," Cameron twisted around just enough for him to kiss her gently. "I love you."

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
"I love you too, YoYo," she said, kissing him back.

He smiled and settled back, making sure she was lying comfortable he considered how to keep her entertained. "So, do they have fairytales where you come from?"
