Saturday 1-21-06

He stashed his crutches in the office and sat in the rolling chair from the desk. He had charting to finish, notes about Thursday night to document.

He didn't remember writing excuses for the kids, and wondered if he'd done it so automatically that he forgot he'd done it, or if he'd, well, forgotten to do it.

He tugged the crossword puzzle out of the desk drawer, but couldn't concentrate on that either.

Doctor is in. No coffee, no Cash -neither dog nor music. No mobility either, but he's not immediately advertising that. You know how pools without life guards say 'Swim At Your Own Risk'? Yeah.

[OOC: Slowtime likely, yeah, but don't hesitate to tag in]

Saturday morning.

The clop clop clopping of Pippi riding up on old man can be heard outside. Shortly there after, Pippi enters the Clinic with a backpack on one shoulder and Mr. Neilson on the other.

"Hello? Greg? Are ya here?"

[[ooc: slow play is fine. :D

"Refreshed and rejuvenated thanks to the best Doctor I've ever had!" she answers not mentioning she'd only ever seen one other doctor who wasn't a witch-doctor.

"I come baring gifts!" She takes a round silver tin () from her backpack.

"Well, I felt kinda bad. Everybody sitting around keeping me company, staying up late while I was snoring away... I must have not been very good company."

She looks around the room and regards House for a moment. Mr. Neilson hops into the backpack and starts to nudge something out.

"Yes Mr. Neilson, you are very observent!" she starts to take the thermos out of the pack and turns to House, "I normally have coffee out on the common in front of the dorms, but you look like you could use some. Would you care to join me in a cup?"

She cracks open thermos. Steam floats out and it smells lovely.

Blair rushed into the clinic and screeched to a halt, looking around for someone. Sean dashed around his legs and Blair turned in a circle trying not to get caught in the leash.

Spying Dr. House, he waved. "Um, have you seen Angel? Or Belthazor? Or..." Blair trailed off. "Have you seen anyone today?"

ImageMr Neilson tips his hat to House, who is obviously a fine gentleman that is sensitive to the wisdom of monkeys.

Pippi goes over to to the coffee setup and grabs a mug for House, as well as the creamer and sugar.

"Your leg? I remember you were limping when I came to give blood, what happened to it? You musta hurt it bad if it's still giving you trouble. Did you have a skiing accident?"

Blair stepped back quickly at the harsh tone and tangled himself up in Sean's leash. Dancing around on one foot and turning in a circle he tried to talk.

"Man! Uh-okay. Nobody but Pippi. I was just checking and..hold still, Sean! Um, Is, like everything okay man?" Blair kept turning his head to look at Dr. House while he tried to untangle himself.

Having grown up on tall ships, Pippi is no stranger to people with "leg issues". She listens to all this intently, quietly sipping her coffee. She's the sort of person who completely into whatever she is doing at the moment, even if it is listening.

"Did you want to keep it?" she asks.

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair finally got his legs untangled from Sean's leash and stared quietly at Dr. House.

His voice was quiet. "I'm sorry about your leg, Doctor. I hope it feels better. I'm watching Sean for Angel who's gotten himself switched into Belthazor's body and then he disappered and you know..." Blair headed for the door. "If he shows up here, can you just let him know that Sean's okay and I'm looking for him?"

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair nodded and left, deciding that he might have spoke to soon when he told Aziraphale that Dr. House was a really cool, cheerful guy.

"Come on, Sean. Let's go find help."

Pippi got up and started a pot brewing for House. The idea of holding onto something that slows you down seemed rather odd to her. She knew lots of guys with peg legs... She even knew a guy with two peg legs and a hook for a right hand who could dance the Schottische and play the fiddle at the same time!

"How do you feel about it now?" She asked measuring out the grounds. "I mean... You're a Doctor. You're the best doctor! Don't you have medicine for stuff like that?"

"Destroying your liver? I thought medicine was supposed to be good for you?" She turns the coffee maker on and comes back to sit with House.

"Why haven't you gone to see him? Do you just not like to see other doctors?"

Pippi drew her legs up to her chest and shook her head.

"It's not important if I want the truth, just if you want to say it out loud."

She sipped her coffee.

"So you hold onto the leg because it is a part of you even though it gives you pain and makes it hard for you to do stuff sometimes. But you won't go see somebody who can help you with it because you want to avoid the pain of a friendship that didn't work out as well as you might have wanted. Except that now the pain in your leg not only reminds you that your leg is hurt, but also of your friend..."

She shook her head again.

"Grown-ups are complicated... Why did I ever decide to grow up to be one?"

"Well I won't after this year that's for certain." Pippi muttered.

She shrugged. "Death is just what takes you from earth and sends you to Heaven. I don't actively try to get myself killed, but I know that when I die I'll finally get to meet my Mama. She watches me from a window in Heaven, and I'm sure she'll have a lot to say on what she's seen."
