Clinic Hours - Thursday January 19th

The fever had broken a little more than 24 hours ago so Wilson knew he was no longer contageous. Simply congested, tired and achey none of which were good reasons to keep away from the clinic another day.

So, despite the scolding he knew he would get from Aziraphale, Wilson trekked his way up to the school and set about opening up the clinic for the day.

Doctor is in. There is coffee and the makings for tea. The bump in the chair behind the desk working the crossword is your doctor.

He had no good reason for avoiding the clinic for a few hours, except that avoiding the clinic was one of the things he did best. And he figured it was about time for Wilson to re-emerge, and he didn't want to show up oo early and appear to be...hovering.

He finally wandered in a little past noon, with Cash in tow. He'd bee working with the puppy on basic commands, with emphasis on keeping hiim from goin after people's feet. The puppy was twice as big as he'd been when House adopted him, and had doubled his weight. House couldn't easily hold him under one arm anymore, without stressing his bad leg.

He glaced toward the desk, but went to the coffee pot without comment and poured himself a mug full. He leaned against the counter and shook his head at Cash, who promptly crawled up under the desk to his usual spot.

House stayed against the counter for a few minutes, trying to decide what to do. He could close the doors and flip the on call light on, but would likely make enough noise to wake Wilson.

If the younger doctor hadn't been recently sick, House would smack his cane on the desk and wake him up rather abruptly, but he thought that would be a little cruel given the circumstances.

So instead he went to Exam One and dragged the stool from there to the other side of the desk and sat down, carefully extracting thecrossword puzzle book out from under Wilson's arm.

Precisely why House didn't even consider leaving.

He worked the crossword for a few minutes, filling in a good bit of it, before he propped his head up on his arm on the desk, sinc ehe couldn't exatly lean back on the stool. Wilson's breathing was normal, his complexion looked good.

House seriously considered calling the book shop to see if Aziraphale was around to come and collect Wilson, but decided he'd wait Wilson out instead. He sighed and shifted his attention back tot he puzzle, only occassionally glacing at the younger doctor.

Cash sighed and rolled over under the desk, his sleep disturbed by Wilson moving around above him. House had given up on the crosswords and had pushed the stool around the clinic lobby, looking at DEATH's condom display and Alanna's pencils in the ceiling and whatever else there was to look at. He rolled back tot he desk when Wilson stirred.

"Welcome to the land of the living."

House narrowed his eyes.

"Better question is what are you doing here? You should be at home. In bed. Or at least on the couch. Parked in front of the TV. Even the lounge at the shop. Resting."

Cash jumped up barking at the high pitched sound. When Wilson shut off the beeping, the puppy retreated under the desk again, his head down.

"I'd offer to go with, but I'd slow you down." SOmething he'd never said beofer. He'd gestured to the cane or the leg or the sky in the past. But he was truly at peace with himsel fand his limitations, for the first time in, oh, six years. "Call me, if you need me, yeah?"
