Clinic Hours - Monday January 9th 2006

Though he wasn't sure if House had gotten his annoucement out to the school yet, Wilson went ahead and opened up the School Clinic as they'd discussed the night before.

Letting Cash out of the apartment, he reached down and ruffled the puppy's ears. "Did he already leave you on your own little guy? Come on then, let's get the day started."

Opening the front door of the clinic, Wilson gave Cash a quick run through the courtyard to be a good puppy then called him back into the reception area of the clinic, tossing him a new squeak toy that he'd picked up on his way up from town.

He hadn't been back to the clinic since the night he'd left the apartment and though he expected to feel a little strange, he soon found himself settling into his usual routine. Starting coffee, a nice Kona blend today, he straightened up the waiting room and settled down at the desk to do some paperwork.

Wilson was fairly certain that House hadn't thought to update the supplies in awhile and they had talked specifically about Wilson keeping up with the back office work of both clinics. So, settling down with the paperwork and a mug of coffee Wilson got his day started.

Doctor is in, come say hello!

House nods. "Indeed, there was." He eyes Mr Neilson, then nods toward the door. "That's my dog, Cash."

Pippi doesn't say anything about House's dog looking a log like a door.

"This is my monkey, Mr. Neilson."

The monkey doffs his hat and bows to House.

"I'm not sure out out of the norm I am sir. I am very strong, and I don't tend to get sick, and people have remarked that it seems very hard to hurt me... So I guess that counts. I haven't been to a Doctor in a long time, so this should be fun!" She smiles.

a lot like a door... *blush*

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr Neilson." House quirks a brow.

"Exam One is open." He points with the cane around the corner to the exam rooms. It's actually kind of nice to ave someone who seems excited about being in the clinic.

"So nice to visit a doctor without having hurt one's shponk." she says as she enters the first exam room. Once inside she hops up on the table.

Mr. Neilson hops off Pippi's shoulder and onto the spare chair with magazines that one usually finds in exam rooms. He pulls up a hot rod magazine and flipps through it, not really looking at the pages.

"Have you ever had blood taken before?" House asks her. He washes his hands and snaps on a pair of latex gloves.

"Well... People have certainly tried but I was to fast for them all... And none of them were Doctors... I can't remember if the Doctor I saw that one time tried..."

"Okay. Here's the deal. No running. This is voluntary. And it doesn't hurt. I've been doing this for a long time, there might be a little pinch, but it doens't hurt. If you run, I'm not going after you." He indicated the cane. "But I might keep the monkey."

Pippi grins at him. "Deal." And she holds out her arm.

"Cash would like him, I think. He's just a puppy. I've only had him a couple days. Not even a week yet." House sterilized the spot and slipped hte needle in while he was talking. He could be gentle, when he wanted to be. "A friend told me there's a horse in the dorms this term. That wouldn't be your horse, woould it?"

House has not yet perhaps noticed that when he attempted to slip the needle in, it curved and coiled up as he pressed it against the girl's arm.

"Mr. Neilson is actually quite fond of other animals. He's particularly friendly with young ones that don't try to eat him... Yes I do have a horse. His name is Old Man. He's getting pretty spoilt, usually he only gets to be inside for parties."

"Hmmm." House taps the end of the needle. "Okay. What's the deal?" He leans back, looking at her expectantly.

Pippi bites her bottom lip sheepishly when House shows her the bent needle. "I did say I was hard to hurt..."

"Which would be just ducky if I was trying to hurt you." House arches a brow at her. "The blood thing is compltely voluntary, you know. I cna't mandate it. It's for future reference. Last term, we had two strapping young boys wake up one morning in female bodies. Several students were trapped in small animal bodies for a few days. Wacky things happen around this place."

"I understand that you're not trying to hurt me sir." she responded, her lip quivering a little, "But it's not something I can turn on and off." Pippi looked very sad, and nobody could look as sad as Pippi when Pippi was sad. "I'm sorry."

"Oh stop. I'm not mad. Annoyed, yes. At the needle, not you. See, now you're a mystery. I've seen blood react badly to the needle, never seen the needle react badly to the arm." He quirks a brow.

"And don't call me sir. My name's Greg." He scratches his chin ad tries to tell himself he's only being nice because in his position, he should be nice. "Or Dr House, if you're a stickler for that kind of thing."

Pippi nodded her head and smiled at him. "Well... Greg," she said, "If you show me how, I suppose I could try to do it for you? I don't know how well that would work..."

'If you think it will work." He shrugs. "But if you've got some sort or...whatever, that prevents you getting hurt, and you don't really get sick, it may be unnecessary."

"It certainly couldn't hurt to try." she said, "...Or probably won't."

House nods. He reaches for a latex tie and ties off his upper arm. "What you're going to do, is find a vein." He tapped his inner elbow. He'd self medicated with an IV before, though he couldn't say he'd ever taken his own blood.

"And then, you stick the needle in, carefully." He runs a cotton swab over his arm. "Just like this," He shows her, biting his bottom lip in concentration as he slid a clean, fresh needle into his arm. Blood started flowing through the tubing and into a small vial.

"See? Not so difficult." He tugged the needle out of his arm and released the tie.

Pippi watched intently at House's demonstration. "Okay, I think I can do that."

"Might want to wash your hands first, just to be safe." House nods toward the sink.

Pippi washes her hands just like she saw House do. she even grabs a pair of gloves and snaps them on. She hops back up on the table and basically goes through exactly the same routine step by step. (Except that she bites her bottom lip in concentration.) When she goes to use the needle, there's a moment where her hand quivers a bit, but eventually it does it's thing. The needle is a tad bent, but not enough to restrict the flow.

"You're right, that does pinch a bit."

"Yeah. Just a little." House watched the blood drip into the vial. "Should be interesting, if you ever do get sick."

As her life's blood dripped into the vial, Pippi's eyes lit up as she remembered something.

"Oh! My assigned Big Brother works here. DEATH. And is friend Lisa." She beams.
