After a relaxing evening with Aziraphale, House felt much better about himself, and the future. There were still a lot of wrinkles that needed to be ironed out, but he was, at last, on the right track.
As long as he didn't screw up again. But he wouldn't dwell on that. He was going to be more positive, focus on the good things. Like a morning without pain. He took a warm shower and ate a quick breakfast, then wandered into the clinic.
He didn't intend to stay long. He had some shopping to do, and needed to go in to town. But for the early morning hours, he could be found with the clinic doors open, bent over the desk working on charting and end-of-the-year paperwork.

In no way did Grissom laugh at House charting.Grissom walked into the clinic early in the morning, and was a little surprised to see Dr. House, but he took it as a good sign House was back before Christmas and smiled.
"Dr. House," Grissom said rather cheerfully, for him anyway. "I re-scheduled my treatment with Dr. Wilson for today so I could fly for the holidays. Is it too early to come in?"

"I'll meet you in Exam One," he suggested with a tilt of his head.
Exam One
He could use the laugh. Although he had adapted fairly well to the routine of the chemo and its after-effects, as much as anyone can, this was one of those weeks in which the ways it limited him both annoyed and helped feed his still sometimes festering sense of insecurity when it came to... a lot of things. He tried to shake off the emotions that pestered him, beginning to unbutton his shift cuff.
Rubbing his face, he took a seat, checking his voicemail and shutting off his phone before Dr. House was ready to start.

"Ready?"

As House set up the transfusion, Grissom grimaced slightly. "And my mother has discovered text messaging."
Re: Exam One
He set up the procedure and started the transfusion with a careful, gentle hand.
"Where are you off to for the holidays?"
Re: Exam One
"Home to Las Vegas. And how about you, are you staying in Fandom?" he asked rather tentatively.
Re: Exam One
"So, I'll be staying here for the holidays. Aziraphale, who owns the book shop in town, has asked me to play piano at the New Years party at the hotel."
Re: Exam One
"And I'm sorry that I will miss that," he added quickly. "We'll be in San Francisco for the New Year, but Sara and I had a lovely time at Aziraphale's holiday party. Perhaps we'll be able to hear you play some other time."

Re: Exam One
He shifted a little, "Actually, I was thinking of picking something up for Aziraphale as a thank you for his party, would a bottle of wine be appropriate? I'm afraid I don't know him very well."
Re: Exam One
He glanced over the transfusion. "Looks like you're about done here." He stood and took care of the details.
Re: Exam One
"Thank you, Dr. House. And I hope you and Dr. Wilson have a nice holiday," he said, extending his hand, while his other arm lay rather limply at his side.
