Clinic Hours - Monday November 7th 2005-

No matter what shape he or the Clinic was in...the clinic was open.

There would be the smell of freshly brewing coffee, the rustle of paperwork and perhaps even some music from the small radio Wilson had taken to keeping around to keep him company during the day.

Doctor on Duty, come bleed or beg coffee!

Phoebe came in as soon as she heard Cole was in the clinic. She moved right to him and sat on the bed, holding his hand.

Unconscious, Cole still thrashed as in in the grip of a nightmare.

Phoebe stretched out along Cole on his bed and held him as he thrashed.

Approaching cautiously (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandom_clinic/40996.html?thread=1791524#t1791524), Beka said quietly, "Pheebs?"

Phoebe looked up, her eyes worried.

"Beka? What happened to him?"

Oh gods... Bel. Phoebe.

It didn't matter if Phoebe never spoke to her again. She couldn't tell her. "I'm not sure. I found him after the bonfire. I've never seen him so angry. And rude," she began truthfully enough. "Then he turned on me. Picked a fight. No issue there. We spar sometimes. This time it got serious. There was a rock..." Her throat tried to close at the same time as her stomach tried to push up through her chest. "I won."

Phoebe stares at Beka for a very long time. She can tell that there is something that Beka is keeping from her.

"Why is he being kept sedated?"

Fuck. Couldn't she be stupid?

"Furious half-dead half-demons scare me?" Beka shrugged, flippant.

"You're not telling me everything, Beka," Phoebe said softly from where she was holding him. "I know that you wouldn't have done this unless something had happened." She narrowed her eyes, but it wasn't in anger. "Protecting him or me?"

"I'm not a white hat," Beka sneered, stomach turning. "I'm protecting me."

She turned and walked out, before she broke.

Belthazor groaned in his sleep. "Phoebe...I'm sorry...."

Phoebe's eyes were hot and her face had flushed when Beka snapped at her. She looked down at Cole and kissed his forehead.

"It's okay, love. It's okay."

He reached up and gripped her arm, tight, almost hurting, then seemed to relax, his sleep becoming less troubled.

Phoebe just held Cole as he calmed down. She kissed his head and whispered softly to him.

Angelus quietly rapped on the wall to get their attention. "This a private party, or can an old friend join in?"

Phoebe looked up and she smiled at Angelus.

"Hey," she said softly. "Nice to see you."

"Came as soon as I heard," Angelus said, coming to stand closer to the bed without getting in Phoebe's way. "How's he doing?"

Phoebe looked happy to see him.

"He's calmer than he was when I got here." She looked at him. "Nobody will tell me what happened to him."

"I know the feeling," Angelus said. He looked at Phoebe. "How are you holding up?"

Phoebe shrugged. "I'm alright. I'm worried about him." She looked at Angelus, obviously expecting him to make it right. "When will they let us take him home?"

"Somebody's got to take care of him," Angelus nodded in the direction of where he'd left Wilson. "Doc's orders. Think you and I can do a little tag teaming with that? You watch him, I'll go find out what did this and make sure it doesn't happen again."

Phoebe's eyes light up and she's very close to worshiping Angelus right about now.

"I'll watch him," she nods and then smiles icily. "I hope you make the responsible party pay but good for what was done."

"Now, Phoebe," Angelus said, with mock-chastisement, "you know violence is never the answer to any of life's problems. Talking and diplomacy are always the way."

"You'd think I'd be good at that..."

"You worry about him," Angelus said. "Let me take care of the rest."
