Clinic Hours - Thursday November 3rd 2005
Dawn had found Wilson still in the Clinic working in the lab. He’d started on Ten’s blood work immediately and after some thought had gone ahead and started with Paige’s and any other back log that was waiting as well.
He’d poked his nose into the apartment long enough to kiss House and tell the older doctor that he was going to be working through the night and then he’d gone back to the Clinic. It was rather convenient having the little apartment tucked just off in the back but it also made it harder for Wilson to stay away.
Not that he’d ever been any good at that back in Princeton either.
The oncologist had spent the night running the lab, reading up on the endoscopy procedure he had scheduled for Friday as well as current literature on gastric cancers and occasionally sticking his head in to check on Jack and on Ten. Upon discovering that Chaucer seemed settled in to stay the night Wilson cut back his intrusions to bi-hourly checks so as to disturb the two men as little as possible.
When the sky started to shift from grey to pink –around 6ish-, the oncologist took a break, going back to the apartment for a shower and a change of clothes before walking down to The Perk for coffee. The walk helped wake him up and shake off the cobwebs so that he was smiling and whistling softly as he set about opening up the Clinic for his regular Clinic hours.
Settling down at the front desk, he set a pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain to brew and reached for the telephone. He had calls to make and favors to call in to get the necessary permits and medical equipment here to treat Grissom.
“Good morning, can I talk to…”
Doctor on Duty, ask nicely and he might share the coffee.

He still knocked lightly on the door, waited a beat and then opened it.
"Good morning. What do you need?" His smile, though perhaps a little worn, was still sunny and friendly.

We just won't discuss the dual hearts, Wilson had spent part of the night formulating a baseline for 'normal' with Ten from the initial exam and the notes the man had given him about his physiology.
Pleased with the results he stepped back and hooked the scope around his neck.
"I'd say you're a free man. I would strongly advise you not hold classes today, give yourself a good 24 hours of rest, keep the bite site clean and if you notice any change in it's apperance, come back in."

or maybe everanyway.[Then he turns and looks at Wilson, straight in the eye.] Dr Wilson, I apologise for being a bit cold. I had a bad experience with a hospital not all that long ago, and I try to avoid them. Thank you for your work. I appreciate it.

"I understand." He said in a warm, good natured tone. "You don't trust what I represent." Wilson had lost count of the number of instances where grief stricken family members had taken out their impotant rage at the cancer killing their loved one against him.
"I know it wasn't comfortable for you to be here but that said, I'm double glad you came in to be checked over." Dark eyes twinkled with genuine friendliness.

Maybe some other time.
"You as well, Sir. Grab a cup of coffee on your way out if you wish. It's fresh."
And with one more smile, Wilson set about getting the room cleaned up so it could be put back into use.

"Hey, Wilson. Good morning. I don't know if House told you, but I am going to start doing a few hours a week stocking, doing paperwork, you know... all the stuff he's been making you do," she prattled on trying to avoid the touching, emotional scene. "Oooh, coffee?"
no subject
Looking up from the chart he was marking up, Wilson blinked. "Oh...he might have meant to tell me last night. Did he explain the new requirements to you?"
no subject
She listened to his question and then gave him an incredulous look. "What do you think?"

Sitting back, Wilson rubbed a hand over his face, tempted to smack himself to help wake up.
"I cleared it with Dean Bristow that any assistants from the student body who work in the Clinic an average of 3 hours per week, will get academic science credit, since I felt it was hard, asking you guys to juggle volunteer time as well as course work. But, this is a pass/fail situation. If you don't maintain 3 hour average, you fail the credit."

She laid off for a second, seeing his fatigue. "Have you been home yet?"
no subject
Sprawling back in the chair, Wilson cradled his coffee cup against his trim stomach and arched a dark eyebrow.
"Of course, I popped in this morning to shower and change. It's just down the hall after all."

"That would be heavenly and if you could, catch and treat any blood draws or requests for condoms? I need to go back in the office and nap make a few confidential phone calls."
Giving her a warm grin, he started to head that way, a clipboard and a chart in his hand.
"Throw something at the door, if you need me."
[ooc: Oh bless you! :)]

"Hello, Duce. Dr. House was running the tests on your blood. I know he muttered something one afternoon but I'll need to get in touch with him to have him give you a call with the results."

"Our conversations were brief and only of a medical nature, Professor Cregg." Reminding himself that it was impolite to just use a lady's first name without her permission. "I don't believe he was entirely comfortable with being here." There was a gentle ruefulness in his voice as he said that last bit, because it was a bit of an understatement.

"Professor Cregg, I think that would be a question best directed towards Professor Ten."

"Good evening, Death. The help is most welcome, it was a long night last night and I think, if it's all right with you, I might head on out for the evening. I'll have my pager with me if there is an emergency."
[ooc: Do you mind opening an 'Clinic evening Hours' thread? So that it helps folks keep some idea of the passage of time? :D *Hugs the duckie on Death*]

Giving Death another warm grin, the oncologist waved his hand and headed on down the hallway towards the small apartment.
One of these days, he really was going to need to sit down and talk to Death, it would probably help but...not a night when he was already exhausted.
[ooc: And again... I love the ducks. It would be great to find some time when Wilson and Death could have a more serious conversation. How does your tomorrow during the day EST look?]
