Charting Format 1.0

Okay, as indicated there are going to be a few requirements for Clinic Staff, some are strictly IC some are strictly OOC and some are going to be a combination of the two but this is hopefully to facilitating participation as well as help us all keep organized in the game.

1 ) Charting: We've set up the community [livejournal.com profile] fhclinic_charts and asked that all staff members join. This community will be locked to only authorized members which will be any staff member. The purpose of this community is to give us all a central location to access prior threads dealing with patients so that in IC the clinic staff can make competent medical decisions without one of us countering what's already been played by someone else.

IE: If Wilson asks House to draw blood work and I make an OOC: that the blood work comes back clean, then if Wilson comes into the clinic and asks Alanna for his results, Alanna's player can go straight back to the chart to see what's already been played and it saves us a whole big OOC thread of 'well, this is what was already said'.

For this to really work and be a useful tool as well as a fun IC prop it is vital that 'charting' be done ASAP.

So, how do we chart?

After mentally chewing on a couple different designs I've tried to come up with something that will be easy for us to maintain and also easy for us to access. So lets see how this works for a few weeks and if changes need to be made, we'll make them.

Each Sunday I'm going to put up a post for the following week. It will probably be labeled "Patient Charting for Week October 23rd through October 29th."

Staff will then comment to that post for each of the patients they treat. To keep things uniform I'd like the title of the comment to read. "Patient Name - Treated by Staff Name - Date." (IE. Greg House - Treated by James Wilson - Oct 21st 2005)

In the body of the comment you can be as simple as just linking to the thread or you can put in little notes about the interaction and link to the thread, your choice. The vital piece of equipment is to link to the thread.

If you want to get really adventurous and link to a patient's history -if say their ailments is part of a plot of some sort- that would be wonderful, but to start out we'll keep things simple.

Saturday Nights I will go through the activity for the week and edit the parent post to list out all the names of all the patients treated that week, so that when we go back we can just read the parent post to see who was treated, then drill down into the comments to get the details.

This will hopefully give us a nice way to cross reference patient activity either by the patient's name or the staff member's name.

Jonathan, if you want we can discuss doing a separate parent post for your charts since you would be the only one posting to those charts -if/until you get an assistant- and if you're comfortable with just making a weekly post of your own activity that would be cool!

2) Clinic Rules: Here are some basic IC rules for the Clinic.

-No Fighting. The Clinic is neutral. We treat everybody.we might pass them over to security afterwards but we patch them up. To this end, if anyone starts a fight in the Clinic, security will be called. If a staff member has a problem treating someone who comes into the Clinic it is the responsibility of that staff member to remove themselves from the case.

-No illegal activities in the Clinic.

-If you give out any sort of medication -yes this includes birth control- note it on the charts.

Clinic Staff are expected to enforce the rules and keep up with the charts.

Now, House!Mun brought up a good point on the info page.

ICly chances are that the majority of House's charts will be written by Wilson, because ICly it's understood that House HATES charting and Wilson usually just does it because he's a paperwork fiend.

I find this to be a fun little bit of character development and a bit of a neat running joke so I'm extending the idea out to the staff.

If your character flat out ABHORES the idea of charting, by all means play out a scene where your character gets another staff member to do their charting in exchange for.wow the possibilities are endless. ;D But IC the charting must somehow get covered and if Wilson or House has to cover all of it, they are probably going to start bonking people on the head.

OOC, however, it is the player's responsibility to make sure their charting is up to date. As House!Mun says, she'll be doing the actual charting threads for House, though ICly it will look like Wilson's doing the work.

As always Real Life rears it's ugly head and you can't make the weekly cut offs, please let me know and something can be worked out for that week.

Sounds like a good plan.

Do you need to know what treatment/meds Paige has been given so far?

Argh, she passed out on the 5th October so received treatment then (I think) and she had her presciption filled on a sunday, but I'm not sure which one, it was probably before the 5th though
