Fandom Clinic; Thursday [11/03].

Apparently, one of the nurses, in an attempt to promote a healthier Halloween, had been giving out bananas to trick or treaters, but, of course, once the word got out that her house didn't have any candy, she didn't get a whole lot of visitors. Which meant she had a whole lot of bananas. Which meant she'd brought them into the clinic that day, as well as a bunch of banana bread, because you know plenty of them had already turned and weren't good for anything except banana bread, but good for her, actually using those older bananas as intended instead of just sticking them in her freezer for later and then having to throw them out a year later because of course you never actually used them after you did that....

Erm...anyway...

Libby's training module just so happened to also be all about potassium today, too, so that was kind of an eerie coincidence. Honestly, she was just happy to discover that Stabby also liked bananas, and it was difficult to not get distracted by the way he actually ate them.

The Clinic is open!

Here! Have a banana while you wait!

Somehow, there are bananas in the exam rooms as well, making you wonder just how many trick-or-treaters this nurse had been expecting...

It had been a bit since his last visit to the clinic for lunch. So Kurt was glad he was able to stop by today.

"Hey Libby! How's it going?" Kurt asked as he set down the bag and gave Libby a big grin.

It always made Libby's day better when Kurt stopped in, so her grin was immediate (especially since it didn't look like he was stopping in out of necessity for clinic services!) when she looked up from the computer.

"Kurt! Hi! It's going well, thank you! How are you? Would you like some bananas?"

Helpfully, she gestured toward one of many, many bunches scattered around the clinic that day.

Yeah, those were a lot of bananas.... Kurt eyed them for a moment.

"Sure, thanks" he said finally as he took one. "I brought lunch, in case you were able to have some with me today."

"Only if there's no bananas in it," Libby noted with a laugh, and a shake of her head as she looked around at the current abundance of that particular fruit. "I think I've more than met my quota of those today. But I'd love to have lunch with you, Kurt.

And, as if to prove it, she rolled her chair away from the desk a little so she could pull up one for him go join her in.

"Nope, No bananas here," he said with a wink as he sat down and pulled out two containers, placing one in front of Libby and the other in front of himself.

"It's something we used to make a lot back home on the farm. It's called Cowboy Caviar around here evidently" he added with a small laugh at the silly name. "But it's really good. Lots of veggies (you should be proud Libby!). And I have some corn chips to go with it too."

"Cowboy Caviar?" Libby had to laugh at the name, too, and her interest was definitely piqued to see what that was all about, scooting her chair back up to the desk and pulling her container in a little before going to remove the lid to have a peek. Her eyebrows definitely lifted approvingly to see all those veggies, and then sent an appreciative smile Kurt's way.

"I've never even heard of such a thing," she admitted, "but it looks amazing!"

And, more importantly, no bananas.

"Thank you, Kurt. This is great."

Kurt gave a big grin as he opened his own container and then the bag of chips, situating the bag between them. "Thanks, it's a bit intensive with the prep cuz of all the chopping... but it's fun to make."

Kurt loaded up one of the chips and dug in, taking a few minutes to enjoy it before turning back to Libby.

"Things going good with classes and all? How's Stabby been doing?" he asked, leaning back to glance towards the tank with a small smirk.

Libby half-wondered if Kurt's tail was dexterous enough to have aided in all the chopping, but she felt it was probably a little silly, maybe even slightly rude, to ask, so she just amused herself for a moment with the thought of it before she, too, started enjoy the food, however it managed to have been made.

And, minding her manners, she took a moment to finish chewing her last bite and swallowing before answering. "Classes have been just fine. I don't know if you noticed, but Jo turned into a pug during Libraries class this week. I asked if she wanted to come to the clinic with me today, but she seemed to want to stay in my room for now. I think she might be a little embarrassed about it. And Stabby has been great, as always. I never would have thought crabs like to eat bananas, but he's always full of surprises.

"How about for you? I saw Guillermo turned into a bat this week, too; Graham brought him into our engineering class..."

Tail was pretty dexterous but Kurt wasn't sure he was quite ready for that kind of use just yet. But it had definitely come in handy with holding bowls and whatnot.

"Aye" he gave a nod answering Libby's question. "Seems to be another rash of animal transformations going around. Both students and some of the adults too from what I heard on the radio."

"It's funny, isn't it?" Libby mused, with a tilt of her head. "That they seem to sort of come in....clusters like that, sometimes. Wasn't Graham also a goose when I turned into a lamb? Did anyone else turn into something when you were that sugar glider?"

"I'm sure there were some... it was all a little fuzzy on my end. It was like I was half sugar glider half still Kurt" he said with a laugh. "Though I have to wonder why the island decides to do this at all?"

Libby shrugged a little bit. "Maybe it's just the way it is," she suggested. "The same way any of the funny stuff that happens here does. Sure, the things that happened last week, that was all Halloween stuff, right? But it does a lot of other things randomly, too, but I just sort of figured that's just how it is here. We have so many people from so many different places and experiences that it just sort of....happens, I guess.

"I'm glad it does, though," she added, thoughtfully, after another small bite. "I don't think I'd ever have imagined I'd know what it was like to be an adorable little lamb, but now I do! And I don't think I'd mind it again, either; it was actually a lot of fun, but Vi took good care of me, too."

"I think a lot of it has to do with what you turn into and who's around to take care of you if needed" Kurt said after a thoughtful bite or two of his own. "I was lucky to have Guillermo there to take care of me... he even tried to give me a bubble bath!"

He did remember that part very vividly! Kurt smiled and tilted his head a bit in thought.

"I guess that means if it ever happens again, I'll be a sugar glider again, you will be a lamb and Graham and Guillermo will be a goose and bat again respectively. Almost seems like the animals 'fit' the person in some way doesn't it?"

Libby took a moment to consider how Vi was as a cute little feisty pink kitten and how Jo had been, so far, as an adorable but somewhat nervous little pug, and she had to laugh a little. "I think you may be right," she admitted. "That certainly seems to fit everyone, doesn't it?"

And that just made her think, especially since his tank was right in her view when she grinned over at Kurt, of how much personality Stabby had, and she wondered....

"Do you think," she mused, maybe going a little pink across her cheeks, hoping that what she was about to say didn't sound too silly or stupid, "maybe Stabby could have been a person at some point? Who turned into a crab, and maybe he liked it so much, he just never bothered to turn back?"

"OH that is an interesting thought.... I wonder if people can really affect how long they stay as animals?" Kurt wondered out loud. "It would be interesting to know one way or another."

"I just hope," Libby admitted with a laugh, "that is isn't on a Thursday that he changes back, if that's the case! That would be terribly awkward!"

But she was kind of liking this idea that Stabby was maybe actually a nurse who used to work here that one day turned into a crab (maybe because he was being such a crab to everyone else!), and just....stayed that way.

"Yeah the whole changing back thing is a bit awkward regardless really," Kurt said. Though changing back while in a bubble bath was definitely an interesting experience.

"Oh, it's probably a very good thing I didn't bring Jo with me after all, then," Libby realized. "I don't think she'd ever forgive me if she changed back here in the clinic..."

Excuse Libby while she turned very, very red and failed to focus entirely on her food instead of memories of turning back to normal at the Magpie Emporium, of all places...

Kurt was right there with ya Libby... he had stowed away in Guillermo's pocket one day, It could have been much much worse than changing back in a tub full of bubbles.

"Well..." he finally offered, still staring at his food as he cast a quick glance up toward Libby as he spoke. "I guess it's a good thing we all have such good friends to take care of us when things like that happen huh?"

"It's a very good thing," Libby agreed, emphatically, and with a small laugh. "All of us really do pretty much look out for each other, don't we? And it helps that we've all sort of experienced some of it together, which makes it a lot easier to be understanding and know what to do when something sort of strange like that happens."
