Fandom Clinic- Saturday

Annie, recently back from the dead after a trying coffee just once, was back at work at the clinic. She'd missed so much while she was gone, and things had only gotten harder for her since she'd been back. In order to catch up at medical school, she was always tired and pushing herself too far, and sometimes the lure of coffee was too much to stand. But no! No. She would be strong.

And though she hadn't told anyone yet, she'd had to resume her shameful job of stripping in order to pay her way through school. It wasn't even going well. Did you have any idea how hard it was to twirl yourself around a pole when tired from studying after a long absence from taking your clothes off for money?

Today was an ordinary day so far, though, working at the clinic to solve all your comas, mysterious pregnancies and horrible diseases.

"Nurse Annie." Oh look, it was the dashing and young Dr. Loki. Who had gone through medical school when he was still going through puberty.

But it wasn't a rip off of Doogie Howser. No. Not at all.

"Dr. Loki," Annie said, trying not to look too interested in his dashingness. He would never love her if he knew her secret! No, it could never be. "We haven't had a single coma all day."

Loki frowned, looking off into the distance. "Something is wrong, Nurse Annie. Something is very wrong."

"What do you think it could be, Doctor?" she asked, brow furrowing in worry.

"In my time spent with Greenpeace, I saw something like this. In the deep forests of Nevada." It made perfect sense.

"What did you see there, Dr. Loki?" Annie asked, looking in the direction he was in case she saw what he was seeing.

She didn't.

"Horrible things, Nurse Annie. Horrible." Yes, emphasizing the horrible without actually describing them. In case they needed to make them different in a future storyline. "We'll need to keep clean towels and hot water on until this coma-less streak has ended."

Annie looked over at him with wide eyes. "How worried should I be?"

"Very," Dr. Loki said, reaching out a hand to grab her shoulder. For comfort. Nothing at all longing there.

Nothing... at... all...

"Oh, Doctor!" she cried out of worry, grabbing him in a totally work-appropriate hug that also had nothing to do with longing.

"We'll find a way through this, Nurse Annie. We will." While he smelled your hair, Annie. Yeah. That wasn't creepy. Somehow it was romantic.

"What if we don't?" she asked, oh so tearfully. "My father died from something like this!"

...A lack of coma.

"That's only because... I wasn't there to save him." He was that awesome a doctor.

"You mustn't blame yourself," Annie said sympathetically. "I understand."

"It won't happen again! Not on my watch!"

"It won't, Doctor," she assured him. "It won't."

And she rested her head against his manly chest, not out of longing at all.

It was super manly, it's true.

"Together we can get through anything."

"Anything?" she asked, holding her hopeful look for a long moment where they'd cut to a commercial or someone else as she considered that maybe, just maybe, she could tell him her horrible shameful secret and they could be together.

"Together we can get through anything," Dr. Loki repeated for the people who just started turning in or the ones who can't remember what was going on before that commercial break.

"Anything?" she asked, still looking hopeful, because that was her last line.

"What could stop us?" he asked, because you just had to turn the screws on those secret pasts.

"I... I..." Annie paused for a long moment, as if she should tell him about her shameful secret of taking her clothes off for money so that she could help save lives... and then said instead, "I love you, Dr. Loki. I always have!"

Oh, no, she'd said too much!

"Nurse Annie!" This was a shocking revelation! You could tell by the flabbergasted look on his face that was in no way overly dramatic. "But--my wife!"

That had never been mentioned until now.

"Your... your wife!" Annie repeated, looking dejected. "I... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have..."

And then she turned toward the exam room. If only she had a coma patient to dote on right now!

"Nurse Annie," he said again, looking away. Because it was all too much to take in. Then he closed the distance between them to place his hands on her shoulders, looking over her shoulder at the camera where she was also faced. Because being faced away would be awkward. "Until this divorce is final..."
