The episode of Hearts 'n' Scapels with the demonic possession was playing in the front lobby. It might not have been in the best taste, but Christian couldn't help it after reading over the reports from the weekend. Demonic-induced coma? Demonic-induced massive hemorrhaging? Christian had been called a demon by more than one woman, but even after being in Fandom for so long he had a hard time believing in them. That punk kid who looked like him and who claimed to be a demon was probably just trying to impress his girlfriend. Boyfriend. Whichever.

"Hey," Peter said. He came into the room. "How's it going?"

"I only climb out the window when they won't let me out the door," Dean said, doing his best to look healthy.

A genuine smile touched Dean's lips. "Hey," he said.

Christian took a look at Dean's chart then did a quick check of his vitals. "You lost a lot of blood, but your vitals are strong," he said. "There's no reason why you can't rest in your own bed. As long as it's just resting, nothing more strenuous than sitting up to eat."

"Hello." Karal smiled back, keeping his voice low, because it was just what one did in a sick room. "How are you feeling?"

"Okay," Dean said. As much as he didn't want to make her a target, a large part of him was happy about that answer.

"And watch tv?"

"You mean besides my Dad and best friend getting possessed by a demon, said best friend taking off, the demon weed whacking me and my brother being convinced that it's all his fault?" Dean gave a small smirk. "Everything's peachy."

"Like crap," Dean said honestly. "But it's a higher quality crap than it was yesterday so..."

"Well I was taking Sam's angst as a given," Peter replied, with a small grin to show he was kidding.

Dean blinked. "I keep forgetting that things that I think I sound outrageous are just someone else's life around here."

Dean gave a ghost of a smile back. "Yeah, I guess that's the least surprising thing."

"Any advice for getting through that thick skull of his?" Peter asked. "I've been doing my best but I'm thinking I may need a jackhammer."

"So, you're healing, and you'll keep healing until you're better," he finished, looking at Dean intently. "That's your body. How about in here?" Karal touched his own temple, "and here?" and he tapped his heart.

"Watching TV is fine," Christian said. "You have people to keep an eye on you?" He looked over at Sam.

"Sheer repetition and being more stubborn than he is," Dean said. "I've already lost count of how many times he's apologized to me. Like it's his fault." He shook his head. "The idiot."

"Yes," Sam said, nodding quickly. "I'll keep both eyes on him, I promise."

"Repeating and stubborn I can do," Peter said. "Pretty sure those were my powers even before this copying gig started. I hate seeing him all torn up like this."

Dean took a deep breath. "That's... not as high quality of crap."

"All right," Christian said, making a few notes on Dean's chart. "You can take him back to the dorms. But if you feel dizzy or nauseated, or start running a fever, come back here to get looked at, all right?" He gave Dean a pointed don't-get-too-macho look.

"Which is not surprising." Karal sorted words out in his head, choosing them carefully, then said, "I'm not going to bother you about how you feel," there was an unspoken yet in that sentence, "I'm just going to tell you that wounds to the heart and the soul are the same as wounds to the body. They do heal, given time and care, but they need both to do so. Untreated, they can fester and worsen, the same as any cut."

"Me too," Dean said. "I don't like seeing him hurt."

"I'll do what I can to help," Peter said. "How about you? Anything I can do for you?"

"Yes sir," Dean said, trying to look obedient. Anything to get out of there.

"Helping Sammy is the big one," Dean said.
