JD rolled his eyes so far back they almost seemed to disappear into his head. "Dude. He pulled me out of school so," he made quotation marks with his hands, " 'get to know each other'. After three weeks of fly fishing and a family Christmas, he sent me back here."
JD stares off into space for a moment, as a smile slowly spread across his face.

JD swings the rod back, per his stepdad's instructions, and then casts the line away. However, he lets go of the reel too soon, the fishing line spooling out early.
