Wilson's vitals remained unchanged and he continued to be in a coma and on the ventilator. Other than screwing up the clinic shifts, he was a model patient.

Pippi walked into the room with a small backpack that had something heavy in it.

She looked around to see if anybody else was there.

Sometime well after dark, Nadia came in at a dead run and skidded to a halt in the lobby. "Is Dr. Wilson here?"

For the moment, Wilson was alone. There was evidence that he'd been shifted a little by the nurse when she was taking his vitals and to combat potential bedsore but other than that, he remained still and quiet.

"Yes, he's in Exam 1," Trevor replied, motioning in that direction. "You can go in and see him if you'd like."

Pippi considered waiting for Phale before trying what she was thinking... But...

She took the crystal ball, wrapped up in a large black silk scarf from her backpack.

Well, it wasn't like the Clinic wasn't safe. One of the safest places on the island really. And Phale would probably be along any moment now. Besides it wouldn't hurt just to set up right? After all, the only thing a crystal ball was supposed to do is show you stuff.

Right?

She unwrapped the ball and set it on the bed table. It couldn't hurt to let it soak up the vibe of the place and the person she wanted to ask about. It generally took a while to "warm up" anyway.

She slipped her hand under Wilson's carefully, to let him know she was there.

"I sure hope this'll help." Pippi said placing her other hand on the ball for emphasis.

And as soon as she touched it, the ball lit up in a brilliant white light...

If Trevor was at the front desk, and Wilson in an exam room, that had to mean--Nadia took a deep breath. "Do you know what happened?"

Trevor realized that Nadia might not have known about Wilson and mentally kicked himself. "I'm not sure exactly what happened. He was stabbed, and he's in a coma from an injury to his skull. But he's doing better," he adding in a reassuring tone.

Nadia let out a soft "Dios" at that. She was definitely too late. "When? Is someone with him now?"

Wilson still stood on the beach his head turned out towards the black water. He was whispering softly, trying to sooth the voices he could hear rising from the water, trying to atone for having failed them.

He was close enough to the water's edge that the sea almost lipped at his bare feet, the cold ocean breeze pulling at the loose clothing he wore in this dream landscape. Gone was the warm breeze from the night before, still for the moment were the voices from the otherside of the dune and Wilson had stopped looking over his shoulder, back towards the dunes, his focus was now on the black water.

Pippi was dressed warmly, she had on her grandfather's shabby captain's coat and the slouch hat Pip had given her for Christmas. She was also wearing his red scarf, which smelled like him. And that was comforting but... She didn't remember asking him to loan it to her and... Wasn't he gone on a trip?

And why was she standing on this sand dune?

She was pretty sure she should probably be someplace else but... Oh hey, there was Dr. Wilson!

She flounced down the dune in his direction, calling his name.

The voice was clearer this time, louder also and Wilson turned towards it with a puzzled expression on his face.

An expression that slid towards concerned when he saw...

"Pippi?!"

"Hey! There you are." Pippi said smiling at him. "I've... been looking for you... I think?"

Some time after Pippi had gotten started, Nadia looked into the room, flinching, both at the bright light from the crystal ball (which she'd seen just enough to recognize) and the state of Wilson in the bed, and decided it might be best to go find Aziraphale.

Which she did ~~in a handwavey manner~~, leading him back to the clinic.

"This all happened on New Year's," he explained, glancing back towards the exam room door. "There's another student in with him now - Pippi, if I'm remembering names correctly. But you're welcome to join her if you want."

[ooc: And now I add italics...in an attempt to keep this from looking too confusing from the outside.]

"I...you, shouldn't be here." Wilson said in a worried tone and he moved away from the edge of the water, attempting to put himself protectively between Pippi and the dark water beyond, least she get to close and hear the voices.

Aziraphale had been on his way there anyway, had in fact just left the house when he spotted Nadia. It didn't take more than a look to see that she was upset, and when she explained what was going on, he took off at a run for the clinic.

Hurrying through the door, he stopped short when he saw Pippi holding the crystal ball, and seeming not at all aware of her surroundings.

"Oh good Heavens," he murmured. "She's gone looking for him, hasn't she?"

New Years.

Why the hell would she have a dream about something that had happened days ago? When there wasn't anything she could do? She nodded a little stiffly and offered a "thank you," to Trevor before heading for the exam room.

"Wull, what are you doing here? I mean. The semester starts soon, and... I am going to be your TA right? And... You've been... Everybody misses you."

Pippi moved closer to Wilson and tried to give him a hug.

Nadia didn't really understand that statement, so she could only shrug. "She's looking for something. She doesn't usually use that thing unless she thinks it's really important." Her hand went to her neck in her habitual gesture of being uncomfortable. "She might be looking for a way to fix him?"

"I..I'm sorry." Aziraphale looked at Nadia, picking up on her confusion. "I meant...Metatron told me that there was something James had to do, and that's why I couldn't heal him myself. So I thought...he must be locked in there inside his head somehow. And when I saw Pippi sitting there...I thought she might have tried to get into his head as well."

He wanted to dismiss the idea as foolishness, but he'd been in the heads of more people than he liked to count, and something about seeing the two of them there, and that light, told him he was right.

"Do you...have you ever had any sort of experience with this kind of thing? I mean, beyond just the basics that we did in class?"

Pippi might have felt a gentle but ice cold breeze. It wasn't forceful but it did carry the idea that she might not want to come any closer to where the doctor stood.

For Wilson's part, he looked very confused as he he couldn't understand why Pippi was interacting with him on such an independent level. He was used to everything being a construct of his own mind, governed by the laws of dreams, yet Pippi sounded like...well...like Pippi.

"You shouldn't come any closer." He said, giving the sea behind him a nervous look. "It's not pleasent in here, Pippi."

Unlike his usual easy manner and ready smiles, in here he sounded distinctly uncomfortable, tired and worn.

"I've used that ball twice with Pippi. But it was never to get into anyone's head. We did it to try and find out things about Walter, when he went home on a mission and when he was--" her voice choked off slightly, since it had been when Walter was here, rather a bit like Wilson was now, only with less obvious reasons why. "And I saw her use it once in London, when Angel was sick."
