Janet's first experience with a gremlin bite had been yesterday. Ugh. Maybe that explained the migraine today? One of these days, she was going to do a chemical analysis of the venom. But until then, she had coffee, high doses of pain meds, and the lights turned down low until someone came in and needed medical attention.

Parker came in after the gym, and various amounts of torment in common rooms. "Hey. You're looking... sane."

Thankfully, Janet's medication had kicked in, and she was back to feeling mostly human. "Sanity is always my preferred state," she said, grinning wryly.

"Which is why I called when Isabel told me what you were seeing while gremlin-bit." Parker's eyebrows climbed for her hairlines. "All *kinds* of un-fun, I'm guessing."

Janet shuddered. "I thought at least half the school had been affected," she said. "And then I got back to the room and Liz was there."

"Oh, man. I can't imagine." Parker bit her lower lip. "Are you okay now? Is she?"

Janet nodded. "I thought she was--" She shrugged. "Her eyes were glowing. I could feel-- But Liz talked me down from it."

Parker let out a slow breath of relief. "Whew. I'm glad to hear it. Although sorry you had to go through that. Bel just thought he was Blair. Which was funny for me, but he wanted to die a thousand deaths this morning."

Janet giggled. "I think I'd rather have gone through that," she said. "Liz is a saint. And please, please, tell me you got this on film?"

"Someone probably got *something* on film, but it wasn't me. Nadia-the-Gremlin stole my camera before Bel bounced over," Parker said in disgust. "I had some pix of you guys and the basketball team, and then I was avoiding getting bitten. I think I saw her taking pictures later, I'll have to see what the heck is on the film."

"Do we know how she turned into a gremlin? She's back to normal now, right?" asked Janet. "So is everyone else okay?"

"She dropped the spirit stick. Which I think should now be burned in some kind of ritual, if that's what happens when a cheerleader gets clumsy." Parker shuddered. "And so far as I know, yeah. The Radio didn't mention any serious injuries."

"Cheerleaders should not be allowed to drop anything, ever," said Janet firmly. "And I say that as someone who occasionally gets tossed around by cheerleaders. But yes, let's burn the spirit stick. I didn't even know we had a spirit stick."

Parker snickered. "Evidently. Would it have turned you all into super-cheerleaders if you dropped it, the way it turned Nadia into a gremlin? Or would you have mutated into pom-poms? *There's* a question." She shook her head. "I didn't explain any of this to Isabel, but she was pretty worried about you."

"I'll stop by after my shift ends," said Janet. "Just promise me that if I ever turn into a super-cheerleader or a pom-pom, you'll lock me away until I recover."

"Definitely. No question about it." Parker shook her head. "Other than gremlin-induced insanity, how are you?"

"Doing pretty well, really," said Janet. "Working on one of my personal projects a lot these days. How about you?"

"Having fun with Jarod's workshop, and Xander's. Working out with Alanna, learning swordwork. Whapping Daisy upside the head when he needs it, when I'm not playing Pyramid with him." Parker cocked her head and grinned. "And decorating Isabel for her boyfriend. That was fun."

"I still can't believe you're taking your boyfriend's workshop," said Janet, shaking her hair and grinning ruefully. "Swordwork, huh? How is that? Fun? The one good thing about cheerleading is that I can turn a mean backflip now."

"What? It's not like we're getting graded. And it's useful. I may need to spot cons and liars in the real world." She stretched. "Owchie. And it's discouraging to know it could take me years and years to get anywhere near as good as Alanna. Still, it's too useful to give up, I think." She grinned. "Pretty soon the season will be over, and your cheerleading days done. You happy or sad about that?"

"You can't do that well enough on your own?" asked Janet. She frowned. "Are you all right? And of course it'll take you years to get as good as Alanna. She's been doing it for years." Janet shrugged. "I won't deny that the exercise has been good, and the tumbling skills are useful. But I think I can live without it."

"I'm fine, but if you spar with Sam after learning swords from Alanna? You end up achey." She made a face. "I know, I know. I just expect it to be as easy as martial arts were for me, and I know that's not true." Parker shook her head. "But Sam got me ice cream to make up for last weekend afterwards, so it's all good."

Janet grinned. "Ice cream makes up for a lot of things," she said. "Just about anything, as a matter of fact."

"And the promise to never cook anything again did the rest." Parker rolled her eyes. "Did you catch any of the stupid singing or dancing that weekend? At least I got a trophy to split with Kawalsky for it."

"I spent my whole weekend in the clinic," said Janet. "Tommy was out of town, and I took his shift last Saturday night." She grinned. "I maybe also spent most of Saturday during the day plotting different ways of drugging Liz and getting her into the clinic for a CT scan or MRI."

"You know, of all the scary people I know, Janet, you still rank right up there," Parker said conversationally, then grinned. "I just had fun painting Isabel today, and hanging with her and Jack. We're all going camping next weekend with our significant others." She cocked an eyebrow. "All of them."

"Camping, huh?" asked Janet. "Sounds like fun."
