Scully was currently analyzing mastodon and mammoth tusks, comparing their DNA to that on file with elephants, and mourning the fact that there was absolutely no way to get a scientific paper out of the work. Even if it wasn't her main field.
Talking about her current location with Mulder had yielded an argument about finding prehistoric aliens and taking them out before they became a problem, and Scully finally hanging up in exasperation.
