Normally, Chloe was pretty chill about everyone she cared about thinking she was dead, but the holiday season was just not letting that happen right now. If Chloe was hitting the keys on the computer a little harder than necessary, it couldn't be helped.

It also didn't help that the nurses kept trying to convince her to turn on holiday music. "Thanksgiving is tomorrow! No music until then!" Maybe, if they were lucky, she wouldn't throw pens at them to make them leave her alone.

There were many holidays that Smallville had nearly ruined for Chloe, and Halloween was one of them. Still, she'd dug out her old sexy nurse costume for the occasion, and was perched behind the desk catching up on the news on her laptop, and snacking on the bowl of candy that was out in case anyone came by.

Chloe did not at all miss the kitten she'd found in one of those balls last week, and was not at all sad that it hadn't stuck around. The fact that she was sitting at the front desk and searching around on local pet adoption sites was just a coincidence really.

Chloe was having one of those slightly manic days where she had a million things to do, but couldn't focus on any one of them for more than a few minutes. The front desk was scattered with half-completed paperwork, and her laptop was showing yet another failed attempt to get into the back door of Luthercorp's files. This had all the makings of a very long day.

Chloe was very grateful for the air conditioning today, as she dealt with stacks of paperwork for the clinic. If she'd known taking over the place would require killing so many trees... well, she probably would have taken the job anyway, but she would have brought a lot more folders with her. Awkward piles scattered across the desk were just going to have to do for now.

Chloe had the doors to the clinic open today to enjoy the nice weather, and had unearthed a CD player from behind the front desk. If the nurses didn't like musicals, well, they were just going to have to deal, because that was all Chloe had brought with her today. At least she wasn't singing along much? Chair dancing, however, was a different story.

If anyone needed Chloe's attention today, they'd probably have to poke her. Someone had accidentally given her decaf at the Perk, and it was all she could do to not put her head down on the front desk and take a nap. For once, she was actually grateful for the nurses' chatter, because the latest gossip was keeping her slightly awake.

Chloe was in an especially good mood in the clinic today, and it wasn't just because she was on her third cup of coffee. Someone had found a website of adorable animals, and was working her way through it, page by page.

Sometimes, the simple ways of feeling good worked best.

If anyone needed Chloe in the clinic today, it would probably be easy to find her from the near-constant stream of cursing coming from the clinic's office. One of the servers she routed her system through to keep track of what was happening in Smallville was down, and she couldn't seem to get around it. Feeling like a failed techie was not how she wanted to spend her day.

Chloe was probably way too excited about the delivery that came to the clinic in the morning. The clinic was now stocked with even more condoms, in a variety of colors, sizes, flavors, and ribbing levels, all organized in baskets on the front desk. If she couldn't be having a good time, at least some other people could.

Sometimes, working on a small island had its flaws. Like, say, when the air conditioning in the clinic died, and no one could come out and fix it until tomorrow at the earliest. Chloe had the door open, and just about every fan she could find going, but she was still roasting in her chair. She was so grateful for the invention of deodorant at the moment.

Things had been blissfully quiet lately, but Chloe wasn't about to dwell on that and ruin it. It was weird to think that the school's graduation would be this weekend, and even weirder to think about how long it had been since she graduated. Thankfully, Chloe had plenty of flash games to play on the internet to keep her from getting too lost in thought.

Chloe still wasn't sure whether or not to be glad she hadn't had any kids. For the moment, she was leaning towards it being a good thing, but that might have been because she was reordering pregnancy test equipment and another few boxes of condoms. Sometimes inventory checks could be very amusing.

Which was why she was sitting behind the front desk playing Angry Birds on her phone.

Chloe was feeling as antsy as ever when she got to the clinic, and the baskets of condoms, while surely helpful, were not keeping her mind clean. Of course, neither was the fact that once she sat down, she began arranging the condoms by size, flavor, and then by wrapper color in rainbow order.

God help anyone who actually needed medical assistance today.

Chloe was still in a schadenfreude-based good mood from the weekend, but she didn't have much time today to think about all the same-sex flirting she'd done (well, sort of, it didn't count if they were guys deep down, she'd decided). The first of the month brought all kinds of check-up duties with it, mainly making sure the clinic was stocked with supplies, and checking to make sure none of the nurses had decided to flee for the mainland. As strange as this year had been so far, she figured it was a valid question.

With nothing strange going on today - nothing stranger than usual at least - Chloe was having to occupy herself at the clinic by watching the news. Every once in a while, the television switched over to a soap opera, but the nurses kept swearing that it wasn't any of them. Honestly though, if that was the worst thing Chloe had to put up with today, she'd still consider it a good day.

Chloe was glad that the island and the people on it were back and all, especially since she'd been one of the ones wiped out, but she couldn't ignore her fear that Smallville had disappeared and hadn't come back since she wasn't there. She'd spent the past few days routing her laptop's IP across every continent, through as many countries as possible. Tracking anything back to her would take a while, and she hoped that anyone who went looking would get bored before following the path all the way.

When she finally felt secure enough, she took a deep breath and tried to access Queen Industries. It only took a few minutes to verify that everyone important to her was still around, and she didn't even care when the nurses laughed as she danced in her chair. Everyone deserved a little happiness right now, she figured.

Chloe wasn't sure if anyone would be coming to the clinic today, but she was prepared just in case. Well, as prepared as she could be now that the island was cut off, and she couldn't get more supplies if she needed them. Maybe everyone would be on their best behavior and stay safe.

...yeah, she'd been a student for long enough to know the chances of that.

Chloe had quite a few regrets when it came to leaving Smallville, but right now, none of them compared to her inability to check on her friends. She'd been following the Portalocity and causeway issues via the radio, and she'd heard people talking about disappearances, but there was nothing she could do for her own universe without outing herself as alive and alerting people to her location. The thought of anything happening to Smallville, to Clark or Lois or Oliver made her sick, but at the same time, if she couldn't contact them, she could still try to pretend that maybe, somehow, her home was fine.

Of course, she'd spent enough time in Fandom to know that that probably wasn't true, and plying herself with coffee and a muffin wasn't making it any easier to try. Still, she had a whole day ahead of her, so maybe she'd feel more hopeful later.

Chloe had been hoping to have a quiet day in the clinic, so, of course, just a few minutes after she got settled in, the radio decided to play Christmas music at her and not shut off even when she unplugged it. The fact that it wasn't too loud was the only thing that kept her from trying to break it, for now.

Chloe had a feeling it would be quiet today, with so many people gone, but that was all right with her. She wasn't jealous of those who'd gotten to go on the trip - it was just Canada, after all, so they couldn't be staying anywhere that nice. Plus, it meant she didn't have to feel guilty about already being on her third cup of coffee from the Perk this morning. Hopefully, the nurses wouldn't be alarmed by her vibrating a little.

Chloe was very grateful this morning that there was caffeine again, even if she was drinking tea instead of coffee. Maybe taking parts out would do the trick.

Chloe had her laptop with her at the clinic today, and was trying to find a way to keep an eye on what Oliver was doing without Oliver figuring out that someone was keeping an eye on him. Considering how much money he had for security, that was a difficult task, and it was only made harder by having to drown out the whining of the nurses, who were bitching about having lost their cigarettes. Chloe wasn't sure how they'd all misplaced something like that, but she was being good and not saying anything about how they were probably better off.

Chloe had been up way too late last night thanks to a batch of coffee that she'd thought was decaf but really wasn't, so she was still mainlining caffeine to get through today, and it was possible that she was just a little jittery. Sure, she'd already straightened the desk up once, but it couldn't hurt to do it again, right? It was either that, or spin around in her chair, and she had a feeling she'd get less of a headache from cleaning.

Chloe's skin was back to normal, the island was back to normal, and the nurses were back to normal. Which meant they were gossiping too loudly for Chloe to hear herself think, but it was better than slowly turning into a monster, so she was willing to let it go today.

There was a very annoyed Chloe behind the front desk today. The good news was, the pain in her head was totally gone. The bad news was, she was sporting some gray spots on her arms now, and they didn't seem to be healing like the rest of her had.

Scully was so fired until she was sane again.

Chloe wasn't sure what kind of state the clinic would be in when she arrived, but luckily, the place looked better than she expected. Once she'd gotten things cleaned up, she got onto the computer and resumed her search for anything that could explain what was going on in town. Rocks that made people go crazy was a really familiar concept for her, but this was way beyond anything she'd seen before.

Chloe was pretty sure that nearly getting chomped on by a deer wasn't a typical way to start the morning, and while the radio confirmed her assumption, it didn't exactly make her feel better. Luckily, she knew the clinic was stocked up on supplies, and really, dealing with something potentially crazy made her feel surprisingly less homesick.

The nurses were still giving her odd looks, but Chloe was feeling better about being in the clinic. It might have helped that she'd bought donuts and coffee as a peace offering, which warmed things up a bit. At the moment, she was trying to go through what was left of her bank accounts to see if anyone was on her trail, and it seemed like she was safe - as safe as she could be on this island, at least.

Chloe still wasn't sure exactly what had happened. One minute, she'd been having martinis with a nice British lady, listening to her talk about how she needed to get home to some doctor and his unit (which had sounded dirty, but Chloe hadn't said anything...at least, she hoped she hadn't said anything), and the next minute, Chloe had the keys to the clinic and Martha was hugging her and thanking her and saying she knew Chloe would do a great job with the place with her healing skills and all.

Clearly, that second martini had been a bad idea.

At the moment, Chloe was getting acquainted with the place, and trying to ignore the stinkeye she was getting from the nurses. This might not have been what she'd imagined she'd find to do in Fandom, but it was pretty awesome for now.

Natalie arrived at the clinic as close to six as possible, taking great care to keep to the shadows and out of the direct sunlight. There was a busy air about the clinic; the energy and goodwill generated by Janet's 'Chosen One Blood Drive' still lingered, almost palpable. Nat was sure something else was going to happen -- something had to, to save Angel. She could only sit back and wait. In the meantime, she would check up on Angel and settle in with her laptop.

*DEATH can still be seen sitting at the desk from last night. His pen is scribbling maddly still and seems to have ammassed quite a large collection of notes. Wilson had closed the Clinic briefly for a few hours, long enough to get a shower, relax a little with dinner and House but then he'd forceably dragged the older man back to the Clinic. They had to go over a few administrative items that he needed House's input with so...back to the office.

Now, if only they could behave themselves.

Stretched out in a chair across the desk from House, Wilson was flipping through a medical catelogue.

"I think we could afford it, House and it really would be indispensible.

He was actually starting to make a dent in his cross word puzzle paperwork.

If you just didn't investigate all the new paperwork that was piling up in the meantime.

Coffee in hand -when wasn't there coffee in hand, the man did live on the stuff- Wilson whistled softly as he flicked on the lights and opened the Clinic up for regular hours chaos and insanity.

Wilson was just settling down with his coffee and his crossword puzzle paperwork when there was a knock at the Clinic door.

Supplies had arrived!

Grumbling softly, he spent the next half hour receiving the boxes, going through the shipping manifests and finally signing off on the bill. Well...unpacking this lot was certainly going to keep him busy today. So much for his cross word puzzle paperwork.

Anyway, Doctor on Duty. You know you want to bleed at him.

[ooc: Doctor is on duty but Wilson!mun is going to have to go into a meeting today for a couple of hours starting around 11:30am. So there will be the pauses today. Back and bored out of my skull at work.]
