FTEC, Saturday

With the radio presumably proclaiming the arrest of Leland Gaunt and more folks breaking their curse, Atticus made plenty of tea this morning, and helped the nurses count supplies to try to ensure everyone could be helped. Hopefully, there would be volunteers arriving as well. or waking up from wherever in the clinic they'd spent the night. It was kind of reassuring to see how many people showed up to help others.

It would have been more reassuring to feel like Leland Gaunt would be staying behind bars, but Atticus was going to leave that to the professionals.

There were still folks who needed hugs and soup, so there was still a pony at the clinic.

Birthday cake soup was a great idea, right?

Anders felt well enough by morning to go to the clinic. As a healer, it felt wrong for him to spend any more time feeling sorry for himself when there were still sick people around.

He waved to whoever was around as he walked in. "Hi,do you still need help?"

There was no keeping Cosette away from the clinic today. She had soup and tea and some scones and muffins and things, and was just as willing to sit and listen to anyone who needed it as she was to offer them food.

[OOC: SP extremely likely but yeah, she wouldn't not be here.]

Stark had brought some cookies with him today and set them near the ample supply of tea before filling a mug for himself and setting off to see what he could do today.

Hanna had stayed over; she was feeling much better, but still weak. She wanted to go back to her dorm room, or help somehow in the fight against Gaunt.

Taking impromptu naps would have to quit happening first, though.

"Hanna," Anders said, pausing by her cot. Rationally he knew he'd been as sick as she was, but he still felt bad for having fed her delusion by giving her the box. "Hi. Er -- how are you feeling today?"

[identity profile] hexentotchen.livejournal.com 2015-03-28 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Better. Much." Hanna could feel herself blushing with embarrassment again; it felt like the only thing she'd done since yesterday. "You're better too, now, I'm guessing."

"Slightly," Anders said, blushing in return. "I feel very, very stupid, which I suppose is a bit better than paranoid and insane."

Hanna sat up further, looking worried. "You are not the only one. I hope it was not... terrible, to have to realize it." Half of Hanna's crying yesterday had been re-opened grieving for her parents, and she could just imagine other people going through something similar.

Anders hadn't been crying; what he had been was absolutely furious at his own idiocy at falling into the trap, with a little anger left over at Gaunt for existing.

He shrugged. "More infuriating than terrible, I'd say," he said. "Half my world thinks mages are on the verge of falling under demonic control every second, and I just went and proved them right."

The pain of losing the phylactery -- which should never have been his to start with -- was nothing compared to that sting to his pride.

Hanna winced at that, then frowned. "But you broke that control, yes? Does that not count, as proving them wrong?" She was fairly fuzzy on the philosophy of Anders' home, but that would seem to be the case.

Pinkie peeked sloooooooowwwwwwwlllllllyyyyyyy up over the edge of Hanna's bed.

"Hi!" she whispered loudly, once her chin had cleared the bed's edge. "How are you today?"

Re: Patients [Sat]

[identity profile] hexentotchen.livejournal.com 2015-03-28 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
That was... Hanna started giggling, because it should have been creepy if it'd been anyone else, but it was Pinkie. "I am fine. Tired. But fine. I think." She pursed her lips, trying to keep the rest of the giggles in. "Thank you for taking such good care of me yesterday."

Elsa didn't much want to be here, but she was the ones who hadn't managed to break Leland's thrall until after several days spent wide awake, patrolling outside his doors and making... killer ice beasts... to attack people with, apparently. She wasn't going to be up and at 'em for at least another day or so.

She was also not exactly seeking out eye contact with anybody. She'd almost done serious harm to some of her closest friends, and on top of it all, she'd sold her mother's tiara away in order to be able to do so.

... She'd be very relieved to find it in the lost and found box later.

"Hi, Elsa," Anders said, when he passed by her cot. It was almost a stab of sadness; he'd seen her outside the store, but he'd been so immersed in his own ... whatever it was ... that he hadn't as much as thought of speaking to her. "You're one of the few, the lucky, the cursed, too?"

Re: Patients [Sat]

[identity profile] iceolatedqueen.livejournal.com 2015-03-29 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"We're calling it luck now, are we?" Elsa gave Anders her best attempt at a smile. She remembered seeing him there, too, but Gaunt's thrall had apparently been too much for the both of them. "I could do with far less luck, if that's what it counts for, these days."

"If I call it luck I don't start cursing about it," Anders explained. "I don't know how you're feeling, but I'm mostly feeling very stupid for having fallen for his pitch."

Re: Patients [Sat]

[identity profile] iceolatedqueen.livejournal.com 2015-03-29 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Very stupid is a good start," Elsa replied, nodding just a little. "He didn't give me a pitch. I just... went right in and asked after exactly the thing he used to control me. I suppose we're both in good company, when it comes to being had."

"I'm flattered, I think," Anders told her, with a puzzled smile. "I managed to convince myself it made perfect sense something locked in a guarded cellar at home would just happen to turn up in an antique store on a tiny island a world away. Stupid's the first word for it."
