FTEC, Monday - 5/5

The room was slightly cleaner this time around, but the food and coffee remained the same. Sorry, he was on a budget here and it wasn't like the clinic reimbursed him for providing that to people.

Hope you all enjoyed the off brand Oreos.

"Okay, last week was a good start for a lot of you," Sam said once people were sitting down. "Plenty more time to work through things. Today I want to see you guys engage each other on how your week has been. I'll step in, but I want to see where you can get on your own this week. Alright?"

Jono came in. Jono sat down. Jono gave his shoulders a shrug.

//It's been a quiet week, for once,// he shared. //I spent some time just sitting and thinking. Talked to a friend about... about talking, and why I usually don't do it. And about obligation, about feeling like I need to be throwing myself into the fray and fixing things that I probably can't fix.//

He shrugged again. Good day for it.

//I've got a class to teach tomorrow. Music appreciation. I feel far less like a fraud teaching that than my last class.//

"Why did you feel like a fraud teaching that?" Kitty wondered.

//Coping With Change?// Jono gave Kitty a wry look. //I'm not exactly the poster-boy for healthy coping. Never have been. I'm learning, I'm improving. But I still have a long way to go.//

"As long as you're honest about that, I don't think you're a fraud," she replied. "Healthy coping's a lot easier said than done for most people, it seems."

//It's far easier to go straight for the unhealthy methods,// Jono agreed. //Though I'm not exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to those.//

It was hard to pick up terrible vices when you couldn't drink, smoke, scream angrily into pillows...

"So I think I'd trust what you do to deal with a bad situation better than I would most people," Kitty said. "If you can't go for the unhealthy stuff, then you have to find other ways."

It made sense to her!

//The park has a lot of overweight ducks since I came back to the island again,// Jono noted with a shrug. //So I suppose at least they're happy with my coping methods.//

Seriously, they were the roundest ducks ever.

//I do tend to brood more than most, though...//

This was one of those weeks where Kitty didn't really feel the need to be here, but she was curious as to what a non-introduction week looked like.

"I have nothing interesting this week," she shrugged.

Flash decided to check out this therapy thing. He was, after all, a wounded war vet, an alcoholic, and host to both an alien parasite AND a demon. He supposed there was something he might be able to get out of it.

"This week I decided to do this thing and I got a job," Flash said. "Other than that, it's been a pretty quiet week."

"No regrets on the job so far?" Kitty said, even though she'd just talked to him yesterday at said job.

"I'd be terrified if I did have any already," Flash said. "If you can't make it through one day without regrets, it's probably not the best job."

"You never know. It's Fandom, It can throw some first day curveballs at you," Kitty shrugged.

"I never played much baseball," Flash said. "So if I got a curveball, I'd probably let it pass so I could keep playing football instead."

"As analogies go, that didn't suck," Kitty told him.

"I'm no brainiac, but I know my sports analogies," Flash said.
